SUSTAINABILITY

RAW MATERIALS Flax is a renewable resource that is fast growing, coming close to the organic standard without even trying. Few chemical pesticides and fertilizers are required in its cultivation (significantly less than cotton, in fact).

MANUFACTURING The Linen Collection is produced with the integrated concept of total sustainability. Made with state-of- the-art machinery, it’s produced using either wind or solar energy. The factory features high-tech, spot controlled, LED lighting. And all chemicals used in the manufacture are approved by the European Chemical Reach Regulations.

And flax doesn’t need a huge amount of water, it can often be fed by rainfall alone.

WORKFORCE The facility in the Netherlands that produces the Linen Collection values its skilled workers: All employees work a full-time day shift, no overnights. Much of the production is automated, avoiding any backbreaking manual labor. Ethical manufacturing a key component of sustainable design.

Environmentally friendly production is about more than just the what. In this case, natural linen is also the who, where and how.

Besides being sustainable, linen is one of the oldest and strongest fibers in the world. The manufacture of flax-derived linen cloth in Northern Europe dates back to Neolithic times. It’s always been revered for its beauty, softness and durability — it was used for Cleopatra’s dresses and Rembrandt’s artist canvas. Momentum is keeping the tradition alive with the Linen Collection, part of the natural textile offerings under Source One Signature.

PRINTING

Starting with a natural flax, the Linen Collection offers an extraordinary array of finishing possibilities, using the most cutting- edge technology. Traditional methods like dyeing, crushing, tumbling, or brushing meet state-of-the-art machinery for digital and 3D printing, embossing, laser cutting, laminating or the application of different coatings and metallics. Crafted to your exact specifications, the possibilities are infinite.

A stain-repellent finish allows water-based liquids to bead up on the surface, easily removed by gentle blotting. WATER RESISTANT

Tested per ISO 105-B02:2014 and exposed for 216 hours. Lightfastness results indicate how fast a color fades by exposure to sunlight. LIGHTFASTNESS Tested per BS 8493:2008+A1:2010. LRV indicates how much light a color reflects back into the room. These results are sometimes used by designers to process in their digital design. LIGHT REFLECTANCE VALUES ( LRV )

Fire rated according to Euroclass and ASTM E84 Class A. FIRE RETARDANT

All products are precision trimmed for butt- joining on the wall. Repeats can be matched exact, so no need for table trimming/ overlapping and double cutting. PRECISION TRIMMING

WATER VAPOR TRANSMISSION & MOLD

SPECIFICATIONS

This test measures how much moisture passes through a material in a certain time. Expressed in perm levels: The higher the perm level, the more moisture passes through (which prevents mold). Linen is a natural material, so it breathes, and has a perm level around 55. (Compare with the U.S. perm level for vinyl wallcovering, which is 1.) Made from 100% linen, this wallcovering collection meets all standards and even passes the highest GREENGUARD Gold test for offices and classrooms, which tests the level of emissions.
