MESSAGE FROM THE CHAPTER PRESIDENT

ENOUGH was my word of the year for 2021, and I believe that coming off of another relentless pandemic year, the DallasHR and the HR community developed a true taste of what ENOUGH truly means. As we continued to transverse through this new world and perspective, we had to continually determine how to collaborate enough, communicate enough, listen enough, support our amazing volunteer leaders enough, lift up the outstanding DallasHR staff mem - bers enough, and just realize that at the end of the day, each one of us is ENOUGH! Our 2021 reality came with many unanswered ques - tions. How do we keep HR professionals engaged, how do we create virtual events that are the most appealing, and then, when should we get back to face- to-face meetings? We have an increased focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts, with our newly formed DE&I com - mittee led by David Comeaux. Survey results provided valuable feedback from members on how we can fur - ther extend those efforts. HR professionals throughout the state of Texas leaned into the community and used HRConnect for valuable feedback and to stay connect - ed with peers. Virtual Roundtable Meetings and the extremely pop - ular virtual HR Coffee Talk (which allows HR pro - fessionals to come together and discuss various “hot topics”), gained a lot of momentum in 2021 and are still going strong! And, while we all felt the exhaustion from different strains of COVID and the hardship of not being with other people, the stellar DallasHR vol - unteers and staff continuously went out of their way to assure that all of our virtual events were engaging, high powered, and full of relevant knowledge. What an extreme joy it was to start off our first in-per - son meetings in 16 months with a fundraising event at

Top Golf in The Colony! It was good for the heart to see so many old friends and colleagues and to spend time just chatting and developing those relationships further. That was then followed by hybrid and in-per - son events for the rest of the year. Again, the volun - teers and staff did an outstanding job assuring that we were intentional about the balance between virtual and in-person events, and while that is something that we still continue to work through and balance, we are gaining momentum daily. One of the greatest accomplishments of 2021 was the Hybrid HRSouthwest Conference. Both successful events were pulled off by the Conference Director, Bryan Yanus, and his strong team of volunteers. In celebration of the Conference’s 80th Anniversary, the permanent “tagline” Learn, Network, and Grow was introduced to emphasize Conference attendee takeaways. I am so impressed with the stamina, courage, and tenacity of the DallasHR staff, volunteer leaders, and volunteers with how far we came during my time as President of DallasHR. I have no doubt that we will continue to learn, network, and grow together as we look forward to whatever the world has in store for us. All I know is that together, we are ENOUGH!

ADVANCING THE COMMUNITY

Education Events Attend accessible, accredited education for HR professionals in the metroplex. A total of 54 scheduled educational events with a total of 3,366 attendees were held in 2021.

HR Coffee Talk HR Coffee talk was launched last year for HR professionals to have a meaningful conversation or get feedback from other HR practitioners about issues impacting them today. This popular event is only open to HR practitioners. This year, 240 participants gained valuable feedback participating in HR Coffee Talk.

Round Table Meetings Round Table Meetings bring HR profes - sionals together to connect and collaborate in specialized areas of practice. We hosted 30 Round Table Meetings with 22 Re- certification Credits for these specialized meetings.

Executive Series For DallasHR members whose titles are a direc - tor and above this invitation-only event offers high-profile speakers and an open environment to connect with peers. Executive Series participation remained solid with 50 executives from 50 different companies attending throughout the year.

Networking Events Monthly Networking Events give the HR community a place to meet, catch up with friends, meet new people and build relationships to help one another achieve their business goals. We hosted two in-person networking events and went virtual in March with outstanding attendance numbers. In 2021, 15 Networking Events were held throughout the Metroplex with more than 600 HR pro-fessionals in attendance.

ADVANCING THE INDUSTRY

The HRSouthwest Conference powered by DallasHR is one of the largest educational and networking events for HR professionals in the nation. This 2.5-day event provides opportunities to connect with like-minded participants from across the nation to learn, network, and grow in the field of HR. Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the Conference, while still in the midst of the pandemic, event organizers wanted to celebrate with all attendees and get “back to normal” by offering a hybrid event. The Conference was held in-person then virtually the following week for those uncomfortable attending large gatherings. Conference attendees attended more than 100 education sessions, re - ceived actionable takeaways from every session and earned 17 HRCI and SHRM recertification credits for attending.

Final survey results show the event was well received with a 96% net promoter score for the entire event. That means attendees would likely recommend this event to their colleagues and friends.

CONNECTING THE COMMUNITY

Online Learning Center The Online Learning Center offers educational webinars for recertification credit. Members watched 107 sessions and the top session viewed was The Best of The 2021 HRSouthwest Conference.

The Community Forum HRConnect links members with other members in a powerful open forum. The member-only community allows users to ask questions and seek feedback on HR-related topics. HRConnect not only provides DallasHR’s 2,000+ members a vehicle to ask questions, but an additional state-wide base of 31 Texas SHRM Affiliates who benefit from the community. During the year, a total of 550 new question threads were start- ed with 700 responses from the community.

Chapter Website Chapter members and local HR professionals call dallashr.org their “go to” site for information, peer feedback and resources. Website visitors increased by 27,000 over 2020. Total web traffic was 80,000 or a 45% increase.

Chapter Newsletter The Chapter’s bi-monthly newsletter, The Bulletin is de- signed to keep both members and nonmembers apprised of upcoming event dates, recaps of past events and important information about the Chapter. More than 8,000 HR pro - fessionals on average receive the newsletter. The Bulletin was distributed 24 times and had an average open rate of 18% and a click-through rate of 13%.

DEVELOPING YOUR CAREER

HR Certification Test Prep Course HR Certification is not required for employment in HR, but it can be a valuable re - source. It is reported that career success can be achieved more quickly with at least one HR certification. The HR Certification Prep Course is held twice a year in the spring and fall and is a proven prep course with many “graduates” achieving their certifica - tion following participation in the course. Offered both in-person and virtually, 78 HR practitioners prepared for the next step in their careers.

Approved Recertification Credit Provider DallasHR is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for the SHRM-CP ® and the SHRM-SCP ® . The Chapter is also recognized by the HR Certification Institute (HRCI). All of our educational sessions are pre-approved for recertification of the PHR, SPHR, and GPHR designations. A total of 68 recertification credits were offered through in-person and virtual Education Events.

SUPPORTING YOUR CAREER

Career Center Whether you are a job seeker or job poster, the DallasHR Career Cen - ter is your one-stop-shop for jobs. With more than 11,000 visitors, 29,000 page views and and 51,000+ jobs on average were viewed monthly. Area employers who post jobs in the Career Center enjoy easy online management of postings, access to a searchable resume database, and competitive pricing. 111 different employers were able to see more than 700 searchable resumes.

Job-Link For those who found themselves in transition during the year, our Job-Link meetings feature a variety of educational topics to help with job pursuits and a great opportu - nity to network with others, share leads, and support one another during the search. In 2021, 215 HR professionals in transition participated in monthly Job-Link meetings.

Conference Scholarships Every year, the Chapter awards the Drew Young and Excellence in HR Education scholarships to college students who have demonstrated a commitment to the field of HR. Scholarships are awarded to students currently in school seeking HR degrees.

Chapter Grants The Chapter Grant Program offers those members who apply with DallasHR member financial assistance to achieve their educational goals. Five Grants were awarded in 2021. Applications are open year-round.
