ORLÉANS | They have a chance now for ei- ther provincial or national gold. Several members of the Tumblers Gym- nastics Centre’s men’s artistic gymnast team will be moving on after their provincial qualifier events mid-March in Burlington. The provincial championships take place in Windsor April 4 to 7. The Tumblers men’s competitive team in- cludes members ranging in age from 8 to 19 years old. Those in the level three and four categories now have a chance to try for both a provincial title in Windsor and also a berth at the Eastern Canadian Champi- onships the month following in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The four members of the team who com- peted in the National Open and Youth cat- egories have a chance to also go for provin- cial ranking in their events and a chance to qualify for the Canadian Championships in Ottawa May 17 to 25. At the Burlington provincial qualifiers in National Open class Justin Perry placed sev- enth in aerial, fifth in floor work, and fourth in the vault. Tyler Glavind was ninth in aer- ial, fifth in the pommels, and fourth on the rings. In National Youth Éric Gauthier finishes sixth in aerial, third in vault, fifth in the high bar, and third on the parallel bars.

In Provincial third-level, Alexander Gib- son, in 13-and-over-A class, took first in pommels, fifth on the parallel bars, and fifth in floor work. Ramzy Hamwi, in 10 to 12 A class, finished 13th in aerial. In Provincial second-level, Camil Roy, in 10 to 12-years A class, placed fourth in pom- mel and 11th in aerial. Kieran St-Jacques, in 10 to 12 A, finished 17th in aerial. Justin Carter, in 10 to 12 B, took fifth in both vault and pommels and placed 13th in aerial. Owen Brouse, in 10 to 12 B, placed 20th in aerial. David Gorman, in the eight-and- nine-year-old class, took second in parallel bars, third in pommels, fourth in the high bar and aerial, and fifth in floor work. Philo- pateer Faltas, in eight-and-nine-years, took second in vault and sixth in aerial. Mikael Tosoni-Eves, in eight-and-nine-years, took fourth in pommels and 14th in aerial. In the Provincial first-level, Tyson Morton, in eight-and-nine-years-B, took second in parallel bars, third in rings, and eighth in aerial. Cedric Menard, in eight-and-nine B, took second in the high bar, fourth in pom- mels, and ninth in aerial.

She is back in Rockland this weekend and she’s bringing some friends with her. CIHA alumnus Klara Chmelova steps out on the ice of her old alma mater as part of the Czech Republic’s women’s hockey team in an exhibition match against the Ottawa U GeeGees March 31. Chmelova was part of the CIHA’s first graduating class and af- terwards joined her homeland’s women’s national team which competes at the IIHF Women’s HockeyWorld Championships in Ottawa in April.
