Mélissa Ouimet : un avant-goût de son premier album
La Franco-OntarienneMélissa Ouimet sera de passage au Centre des Arts Shenkman, à Orléans, le 21 janvier prochain. Elle en
profitera pour y présenter quelques-unes des chansons qui se retrouveront sur son premier album.
Le premier album solo de Mélissa, qui paraîtra ce printemps, a été réalisé par Gau- tier Marinof qui a, entre autres, réalisé les
albums de Marc Dupré, Jérôme Couture et Renée Wilkin. Mixé et masterisé par Luc Tellier, connu pour son travail avecThe New Cities, Blé et Jeffrey Piton, cet album aux sonorités pop-rock est à l’image deMélissa Ouimet. L’auteure-compositrice-interprète fait vibrer ses cordes vocales au rythme du rock depuis plus de 10 ans. « Nous suivons la car- rière de Mélissa de près depuis longtemps, a témoign é Patrick Bourbonnais, directeur artistique du MIFO. C’est une artiste com- plète en laquelle nous croyons beaucoup. Nous l’avons présentée l’année dernière au Café de Joël et cette année au Centre des Arts Shenkman où elle nous donnera un avant-goût d’un albumqui fera assurément rayonner tout son talent. Le coup d›envoi de la carrière deMélissa a été donné en 2003 lorsqu›elle a remporté le prix du public d›Ontario Pop. Depuis, elle multiplie les réussites alors qu’elle a notam- ment performé avec les Pornflakes aux Jeux olympiques de Vancouver, en 2010. Elle a aussi fait une tournée en Asie et plusieurs premières parties. Les admirateurs de l’artiste auront la chance de la voir le 21 janvier prochain et d’entendre un avant-goût de son album à paraître. The 9 th edition of the annual Living Local- ly Fair will take place on January 16, at the St. Thomas Aquinas school in Russell. The event, which attracted over 3200 curious visitors last year, is organized by both the Russell District Horticultural Society and the St. Thomas Aquinas school. “We’re hoping to attract a couple hundred more visitors this year,” explained Marie- Claire Ivanski, member of the board of direc- tors for the event. “But we’ve been sold out for vendor spaces for quite a while now.The event sure has grown.” This year, visitors can expect 130 local exhibitors, all welcoming guests with a hear- twarming smile. From homemade pastries to educational booths and sweet scented soaps, everyone is bound to come across something that piques their interest. “It’s important that we encourage resi- dents to buy local,” expressed Ivanski. “It’s very important, because when you buy local, most of the money you spend stays in the community.” More importantly, themoney raised du- ring the event will be put towards good use in the region. “We take part in the cleaning and maintaining of theMcDougall Park,” said the woman. “Volunteers work hard and do a lot of work, but we simply can’t do everything.
