[223] Nursing Research is Fun Explore various approaches to nursing research for cancer patients and their family caregivers, including the use of reflexology, meditation, virtual reality and yoga. [224] The Hidden Maze: An Escape Room Experience an escape room where students will explore disability, impacts of disability and common barriers in society and experience what it means to navigate our society with a disability. [225] Yoga for EveryBody Explore yoga flows, standing and siting postures, balance poses and practice some fun partner yoga poses. [226] Got Violin? It’s a Cool Tool Gain hands-on experience learning the violin including basic posture and some beginner songs. [227] Let’s Make Music Explore different kinds of musical instruments and how they make sound by hitting drums, buzzing on brass instruments, and learning about reeds, mouthpieces and strings that vibrate. [228] A Smashing Time With Nuclei at FRIB See inside MSU’s Facility for Rare Isotope Beams, a world-leading nuclear research laboratory. Get hands-on with a model “nucleus” to learn how and why we smash nuclei at half the speed of light, then tour the lab and find out what exciting discoveries are made possible by our new linear accelerator!

[229] Microbial Art Get an introduction to the field of colorful microbes to students by delving into agar art, learning about synthetic pigments bacteria have been engineered to produce, and naturally colored microbes. [230] Microscope Guessing Game Have you wondered how everyday objects look really, really close up, how Velcro works, why wool sweaters are so itchy, or why some leaves feel fuzzy? In this class, we’ll seek to answer these questions as you try to identify objects in a Scanning Electron Microscope at high magnification. [231] Physics is Fun Witness interesting and exciting physics demonstrations as you learn about the most important physical laws governing our world. [232] All About Black Education Explore the contributions Black people have made to public education in the U.S. Learners of all ages will learn something new about the Brown v Board of Education Supreme Court desegregation decision (which commemorated a milestone 70th anniversary this year) and its relevance for schools today. [233] Help Excavate MSU’s First Observatory Learn about MSU’s first observatory on campus which dates to 1881 and was discovered in 2023. Students will be working outdoors as well as indoors, both excavating and cleaning artifacts. [234] Introduction to Debate Learn debate techniques and interact in a mock debate with the nationally successful MSU Debate Team. Students will debate on fun topics, like whether a hotdog is a sandwich, and relevant topics such as should the United States reduce its nuclear arsenal.
