Engage with live invertebrates and see the housed bee colony and the museum of pinned specimens. [102] Enjoying Safe Food From Around the World See how fruits, vegetables, spices, fish and other foods from around the world arrive on our plates to enjoy. You’ll learn the importance of keeping food safe from harmful bacteria and chemicals and the role MSU plays in food safety. [103] Geocaching in the MSU Horticulture Gardens Learn about geocaching while touring the MSU Horticulture Gardens, operating a basic GPS unit and finding up to five geocaches. NOTE: GPS units will be provided. This class requires a lot of walking and is intended for students who have not geocached before. [104] INSITE Climate Change Trajectory Explore what bioluminescent feature squids have to protect themselves against looming predators in the ocean with the help of bacteria. Find out what collaborative research efforts contribute to conservation efforts on protecting organisms and what you can do to help. Learn the effects of climate change through a hands-on dissection activity on the bobtail squid at MSU’s Heath-Heckman Lab.
