Chapter 1: Born into Chiropractic

Some kids grow up with toy trains or baseball bats. Mark Sanna grew up with a chiropractic adjusting table.

His introduction to chiropractic wasn’t just early—it was life-saving. Born a month premature, blue and struggling to breathe, Mark’s first adjustment came moments after birth. His father, a devoted chiropractor, gently aligned his spine, and just like that—his breathing normalized. That moment set the tone for the rest of his life. In the Sanna household, chiropractic wasn’t just a profession—it was a family legacy. His dad had been saved by chiropractic after a devastating baseball injury, and that miracle became his life’s work. Young Mark and his sisters would play on the adjusting table like it was a jungle gym. Their dog got adjusted so many times she probably braced herself for the “pop” every time someone reached down to pet her. By the time Mark was in first grade, he was adjusting cervical spines like a pro. His response to the classic “What do you want to be when you grow up?” wasn’t astronaut or cowboy—it was “dog-o-practor.”

And as funny as that was, it wasn’t far off.

Chapter 2: The Making of a Maverick

Mark always had a spirit of curiosity and drive, and that took him to Auburn University in Alabama for college. He loved the football culture, the Southern hospitality—and saw right away that something was missing: a pre-chiropractic program.

Instead of complaining, he created one.

After being challenged by the Dean himself (who called chiropractic a waste of talent—ouch), Mark gathered requirements from chiropractic colleges and, with the help of a local DC, launched Auburn’s first-ever pre-chiropractic program. It was just the beginning of his lifelong habit of not just identifying gaps—but filling them with something better. After college, Mark earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree and launched into private practice. He was a skilled adjuster, just like his dad taught him. His clinic grew quickly. Patients came in droves.

But behind the scenes? Mark was burned out. He was working hard—but financially struggling. He was passionate—but exhausted.

That’s when everything changed.

Chapter 3: Breakthrough Begins

"I didn’t know how to balance a checkbook until I was 30," Mark admits with a smile.

Clinical excellence didn’t translate to business success. So Mark did what any committed learner would do—he turned himself into a sponge. He went to every seminar, followed every practice management “guru,” and took copious notes. But something felt off. The same ideas were being recycled, over and over. Nothing felt actionable. Every time he returned from a seminar, his staff braced for another round of “Now we’re doing it this way.” That’s when his father introduced him to Breakthrough Coaching. Mark became a client—and for the first time, he saw a system that actually worked. Not just theory, but real strategies with measurable outcomes.

Three years later, in true “Remington Razor” style, he loved the company so much… he bought it.

And just like that, Breakthrough Coaching became the most dynamic, forward- thinking practice management company in the profession—with Mark Sanna at the helm.

One of Mark's core beliefs is simple: You can be passionate AND profitable.

He saw too many chiropractors running themselves ragged. They were overworked, underpaid, and constantly chasing the next big thing—without a clear plan. Breakthrough Coaching flipped that script. He built a coaching team made up of successful chiropractors who had walked the walk. Every coach had used the system in their own million-dollar practice. They weren’t just teaching theory—they were teaching what they lived. Under Mark’s leadership, Breakthrough Coaching helped thousands of chiropractors increase income, reduce stress, and regain control of their lives. The systems were simple, scalable, and predictable. For the first time, doctors were working on their practices, not just in them. Mark also focused on helping doctors sell their practices at a premium when the time was right—something few chiropractors ever prepare for. He turned practices into valuable, sellable assets.

And through it all, he never stopped giving back.

Chapter 5: The ForumSherpa Years

While chiropractic was Mark’s first calling, entrepreneurship became his second.

As a ForumSherpa Certified Facilitator, Mark began leading retreats for Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) and Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO). These weren’t your typical workshops—they were deep dives into values, leadership, personal growth, and legacy. Mark’s retreats became legendary. He didn’t just show up with slides and a script— he showed up with heart. He customized every experience, led powerful exercises like 'Life with Intention' and 'Embracing Change,' and helped leaders and their teams break through their blind spots.

His goal was always the same: to help people dig deeper, reach higher, and connect more authentically with themselves and their teams.

It was coaching—but on a soul level.

Chapter 6: Breaking the Mold

Mark saw what was coming long before others did: chiropractic needed to evolve.

The future was integrated care. Chiropractors, physical therapists, nurse practitioners, and medical doctors collaborating under one roof. But integration had to be done right—or not at all. Mark helped chiropractors navigate this new world. He taught them how to build compliant, efficient, ethical multidisciplinary practices—without losing their identity or jeopardizing their license. His seminar 'Multidisciplinary Practice: The Right Way' became a crowd favorite. He took a complex subject and made it actionable. He showed doctors how to attract patients, retain them, document correctly, and build a dream team. No fluff. Just results.

He credits his parents for shaping who he is—especially his dad, who not only saved his life with that first adjustment, but also inspired him to make chiropractic his life’s work. Mark talks often about the sacrifices his mother made, showing up to every school event while Dad was busy building a practice from scratch. Today, Mark considers the entire Breakthrough Coaching community part of his extended family. He’s known for texting clients back late at night, celebrating their wins, and offering encouragement when times are tough.

He’s donated over a million dollars to chiropractic advocacy, education, and leadership development. And he’s mentored more chiropractors than he can count.

Chapter 9: The Next Chapter

Even after decades of service, Mark Sanna is still asking: What’s next?

He’s focused on the future—on helping practices adapt to new technologies, changing patient expectations, and tighter regulations. He’s doubling down on compliance, marketing, integration, and patient communication.

He’s continuing to speak, write, facilitate, and coach.

But more than anything, he’s continuing to believe in people.
