Volunteer Corner
Become a Senior Companion Sally is in her 80s and lives with her disabled son. She has limited mobility and can’t drive, but with the transportation provided by her Senior Companion Kathy, she is able to go to the grocery store and the bank when she needs to. When they met, Sally told Kathy that she had developed a serious skin condition, but had struggled for months to navigate the healthcare system to get appropriate medical care. Kathy stepped in to advocate for Sally and get her the appointments she needed. Sally told us, “she gives me moral support, especially with going to the dermatologist...that was really scary. She stayed with me while they did surgery. I held her hand.” Many more people like Sally are in need of transportation, an advocate, and a friend.
