We have two itineraries to make the most of a weekend break based in Rouen, with charming, cobbled streets, a magnificent cathedral and the historic clock, Gros Horloge. Explore the dramatic Normandy coastline and charming Honfleur or admire the famous Monet’s Garden at Giverny and a lesser-known garden at Etretat.

Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel and enjoy a welcome drink before settling in. Day 2 Fécamp, Palais Bénédictine & Etretat

Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Monet’s Garden at Giverny & Vernon

Today we see the dramatic coastline to the north of Rouen, between Fécamp and Etretat. Fécamp stands in a dramatic location along the Alabaster Coast and is surrounded by the tallest cliffs in Normandy, reaching over 300 feet in height. We can visit the town centre and market (Saturday is market day). Next we visit the Palais Bénédictine (Benedictine Palace) for a guided tour and tasting of where the now famous Bénédictine liqueur was invented from a recipe handed down by the Benedictine monks. We then continue on to Etretat, the magnificent and famous cliffs which are one of Normandy’s most popular tourist spots, and admire the 3 stunning arches carved out We spend this morning in Rouen, exploring and enjoying market day (Sunday). We have time to explore the medieval cobbled streets and to admire the half-timbered houses, Gothic monuments and the magnificent Gros Horloge (Great Clock) with the oldest mechanism of its kind in France. We also see the Market Square where Joan of Arc was executed in 1431. In the afternoon we travel to Honfleur, Normandy’s most charming port and a favourite with impressionist painters such as Monet. Day 4 Departure & Saint-Valéry-sur-Somme After breakfast, we begin our journey home. We may wish to make a scenic lunch stop en-route to Calais at the charming resort of Saint Valéry-sur-Somme, with its lovely medieval town, beautiful promenade along the bay and picturesque harbour. INCLUSIONS • Return short sea crossing • Guided tour & tasting at Palais Bénédictine of beautiful white limestone. Day 3 Rouen & Honfleur

This morning, we travel to Monet’s country retreat in Giverny where we visit the impressionist painter’s charming pink house and iconic gardens. Later, we travel to the pretty neighbouring village of Vernon with its half-timbered houses and the famous Old Mill. After lunch we can explore the riverside village at leisure. On our return to the hotel, we stop at the viewpoint above the Seine at Chateau Gaillard for photos. Day 3 Rouen and Château du Champ de Bataille This morning, we have free time in Rouen to explore this ancient city. Visit the stunning gothic-styled Notre-Dame Cathedral, the ornate clock tower or the fine Arts Museum. After free time for lunch, we travel to Château du Champ de Bataille to visit the incredible baroque ornamental gardens (not including the Château) with grand vistas, fountains and sculptures. Day 4 Honfleur and the River Seine We have free time and lunch in the scenic historic port town of Honfleur set on the Seine Estuary. This afternoon we enjoy a 90-minute circular river cruise along the Seine. Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we begin our journey home.
