SUGGESTED ITINERARY

This morning, we travel to the historic city of Bruges, a renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site brimming with beautiful buildings, churches and canals. In the afternoon, to get a real taste of Bruges, we enjoy a 1 hour guided tour at the Brewery Bourgogne des Flandres where we learn more about one of Belgium’s most famous exports. We experience the different aspects of the brewing process, meet the brewer in the attic and enjoy a tasting in the alehouse at the end. We spend the rest of our day at leisure – enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride around the historic streets, visit one of the many chocolate shops or see the town from a different perspective, on a relaxing canal cruise. Day 3 Ghent Today we visit the Flemish city of Ghent, which boasts an opera house, museums, ancient churches and dozens of bridges. We spend the morning at leisure with time to explore this lovely city. Look out for the medieval belfry with its echoing bell, which, in the past, used to alert Belgium’s rulers of enemy advancements. Nowadays, it’s just part of the city’s charm! In the afternoon we embark on a 50-minute circular cruise , tucking into sandwiches and tea/coffee whilst we discover Ghent from the water. Or alternatively a day in Ypres can also be an option, see page 37 for suggestions. Day 4 Departure After breakfast, we begin our journey home. INCLUSIONS • Return short sea crossing
