Day 1 Arrival We arrive in Lucerne and ascend to our mountain-top hotel by funicular. Day 2 Golden Round Trip
Today we will experience the famous Golden Round trip for incredible views of the spectacular mountain scenery and photo opportunities along the way. We start our journey by descending by cable car to Kriens. From there, we board our coach to travel into the stunning lakeside town of Lucerne with time to explore – known for its medieval architecture and pretty Chapel Bridge. Our return journey is made by boat to the pretty town of Alpnachstad before we make our final journey aboard the funicular railway and ascend to our hotel. Day 3 St Gallen and St Anton This morning, we will travel to St Gallen where we will have free time to explore the city rich in historical and cultural sights. The old town’s Abbey Library has one of the most impressive collections of medieval manuscripts whilst the baroque styled cathedral is an 18th century masterpiece. There is also a wide choice of places to stop for lunch and shopping. In the afternoon, we leave St Gallen for the final leg of our journey to the Austrian resort of St Anton and check into our hotel. Day 4 St Anton Driver’s Day Off Today we spend the day at leisure in the resort of St Anton. Browse the shops or relax at one of the many cafés to enjoy views of the mountains and typically Tyrolean wooden houses. We can take advantage of our St Anton Summer Card which includes entrance to St Anton Museum and the complimentary use of local bus services. The St Anton Museum tells the story of the history of skiing and local life in the mountains. Day 5 Innsbruck This morning, we travel to the picturesque city of Innsbruck in Austria’s Tyrol region. On arrival, we will meet a local guide for a one hour guided walking tour of the Old Town including the city’s most famous sight, the Golden Roof. Afterwards, we have time to discover the city’s rich heritage including beautiful Baroque churches, narrow winding streets, unique shops and gabled houses. Or head for the opulent Hofburg Palace or funicular railway which takes you to the foot of the Nordkette Mountains. We then return to the hotel mid-afternoon. Day 6 Departure After breakfast, we begin our journey home.
