Highlights of Tuscany & the Italian Riviera With the sea on one side and the white peaks of the Apuan Alps on the other, Viareggio is a fabulous base for our fantastic packaged tour that takes in the very best of Tuscany and the stunning coastal scenery of the Italian Riviera. We see the beautiful colours of the Cinque Terre by train and boat and take another relaxing boat journey to the elegant resort of Portofino. We also discover the ancient city of Lucca and enjoy a fantastic lunch at a wonderful farmhouse – this is definitely a trip to remember!

Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Viareggio Driver’s Day Off
a maze of narrow cobbled streets, stunning churches, chapels and Lucca Cathedral, with its magnificent Romanesque facade. After our tour we have time at leisure to explore before making our way to a wonderful farmhouse in Montecarlo, Fattoria il Poggio , for a fantastic 4-course lunch with wine! Day 5 Portofino We spend today visiting the most fashionable and stylish resorts of the Italian Riviera. We travel to the popular seaside resort of Santa Margherita, where we enjoy a relaxing boat ride along the coast, around the headland and into the chic and famous resort of Portofino. Here, we spend time at leisure before returning by boat to Santa Margherita. (Please note, we may visit a different town depending on the departure point of the boat trip.) Day 6 Departure After breakfast, we begin our journey home.
Today we enjoy a day at leisure in Viareggio. Once a fishing village, Viareggio is now a thriving resort with a long beachside promenade and shops, with plenty to explore. Stroll along the centre’s charming streets, eat a gelato on the Passeggiata, dine in one of the typical seaside restaurants or simply enjoy a relaxing day surrounded by the sparkling ocean. Day 3 Cinque Terre Today we travel to La Spezia where we meet our full day guide for a journey into the wonderful and colourful world of the Cinque Terre (the ‘Five Lands’). These quaint and incredibly scenic fishing villages can only be visited by boat or train due to their location on the rugged coastline of the Mediterranean. We travel by boat to Monterosso via Porto Venere and Vernazza. Monterosso is the largest of the five Cinque Terre villages and we enjoy time at leisure here, browsing the shops and perhaps enjoying a seafood lunch, before returning by train to Levanto . Day 4 Lucca This morning, we enjoy a 90-minute guided tour of beautiful Lucca , which gives us an introduction to one of the oldest cities in Tuscany. The elegant Old Town is still enclosed by its ancient city walls and is home to
