Day 2 Lucca We enjoy a morning visit to the stunning walled medieval town of Lucca. Either have free time for lunch here or continue into the nearby countryside for a visit and blow out lunch at the fabulous Fattoria del Poggio. Day 3 Montecatini A day at leisure in lovely Montecatini. Take the funicular up to the compact old town of ‘Montecatini Alto’, perched above the main town on the hillside. Browse Montecatini’s stylish shops or alternatively we may wish to take the local train into nearby Florence. Day 5 Hadrian’s Villa & Villa d’Este Gardens Following breakfast, we set off by coach with a licensed step-on guide for Tivoli, a summer retreat once beloved of Rome’s ancient and Renaissance elites, to discover its two UNESCO World Heritage highlights. We enjoy a guided tour of Hadrian’s

Villa, the remains of an opulent 2nd century estate built and enjoyed by the emperor Hadrian. We explore its crumbled villa, luscious gardens and fountain square as we hear of his pampered life here. We also visit the Villa d’Este Gardens , a 16th century Renaissance masterpiece made up of stunning terraces, fountains, grottoes and ornate pools. Day 6 St Peter’s Basilica & Vatican Museums Today brings another excursion into central Rome, this time for a guided tour of St Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums . We take in beautiful St Peter’s Basilica and St Peter’s Square and visit the Vatican Museums to see their priceless treasures, including Michelangelo’s frescoes in the Sistine Chapel – learning their history from our guide along the way. Afterwards, there is free time to relax and stroll as we wish before returning to our hotel. Day 7 Departure After breakfast, we begin our journey home.
