The Americans were led by Sonia Citron, who chipped in 15 points and seven rebounds, and Jewel Spear, who scored 14 points. A 17-0 run in the second quarter helped spur the USA to a 99-59 win over Australia on Aug. 8. Clark had a near triple-double with 24 points, nine rebounds and a team-high seven assists and Lau- ren Betts tallied a double-double with 17 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. In the Aug. 13 quarterfinals match-up with Spain, the USA got out to a 15-point lead at halftime and never looked back, securing a 98-64 win to advance to the semifinals. Clark finished with 17 points and Betts contributed 16 points. An 8-0 run at both the end of the first and second quarters helped the USA to a 20-point advantage heading into the locker room in its semi- final game against host Hungary on Aug. 14. The Americans cruised in the second half en route to a 75-42 win. Citron led the USA with 17 points, while Clark and Diamond Johnson each had 14 points.
