Mr. C lark goes b ack to th e original te x t so fa r as possible and show s th e m eaning of th e w ords “ sheol” an d “h ad es.” H e follows these w ords through th e en tire Bible a n d m akes clear th e connections in w hich th ey a re used. T he answ ers to m any q u estions th a t have puzzled godly souls, will be found in th is book. H ades is show n to be the equivalent of th e O ld T estam en t w ord “ sheol,’’ desig n atin g the place to w hich all d ep artin g sp irits w ent p rio r to th e S aviour’s resu rrectio n . Both w ords, u n fo rtu n ately , a re rendered “hell” in the K ing Jam es version, w hereas hell, a s the fu tu re place of punishm ent, is clearly distin g u ish ed by o th e r w ords. M r. C lark show s th a t vario u s activ ities are represented as tak in g place in hades, w hereas in th e grave th ere is no know ledge.
