a family member, or someone else must immediately report such conduct to their supervisor, manager, or the Human Resources Department. Employees are under a duty to promptly report such behavior and will not be adversely affected in terms and conditions of employment or discriminated against or discharged because of a good-faith complaint. The Company will promptly and thoroughly investigate all reports of threats of violence or incidents of actual violence and of suspicious individuals or activities. The identity of the individual making a report will be protected as much as possible. The Company will not retaliate against employees making good faith reports of violence, threats, or suspicious individuals or activities. To maintain workplace safety and the integrity of its investigation, the Company may suspend employees suspected of workplace violence or threats of violence, either with or without pay, pending investigation. All violent acts as described above will be treated seriously and will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action up to and including termination. 4.11 Workplace Searches To protect Company property and to ensure the safety of all employees, the Company reserves the right to inspect and search any employee's office, desk, drawers, cabinets, files, locker, equipment, including computers, e-mail and voice mail, Company vehicles, and any area on Company premises. In this regard, it should be noted that all offices, desks, file drawers, cabinets, lockers, and other Company equipment and facilities are the property of the Company and are intended for business use. Employees should not expect privacy concerning items brought onto Company property and/or stored in Company facilities. Inspection may be conducted at any time, without notice, at the discretion of the Company.
In addition, when the Company deems appropriate, employees may be required to submit to searches of their personal vehicles, parcels, purses, handbags, backpacks, briefcases, lunch boxes or any other possessions or articles brought on to the Company's property. Persons entering the premises who refuse to cooperate in an inspection conducted pursuant to this policy may not be permitted to enter the premises. All employees must cooperate in an inspection; failure to do so is insubordination and will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination. 4.12 Safety The Company is committed to providing a safe workplace. Accordingly, the Company emphasizes "safety first." It is the employee's responsibility to take steps to promote safety in the workplace and work in a safe manner. By remaining safety conscious, employees can protect themselves and their coworkers. Employees are expected to promptly report all unsafe working conditions, accidents and injuries, regardless of how minor so that any potential hazards can be corrected. Midwest Fastener Corp. provides information to employees about workplace safety and health issues through regular internal communication such as: • Monthly safety meetings • Bulletin board postings • Memorandums • Other written communications The Safety Manager is responsible for implementing, administering, monitoring and evaluating the safety program. A safety committee for the larger facilities is comprised of non-management personnel from equal areas of the facility and are led by a non-management chairperson.
