Experience and skills Essential • An ability to implement high-level strategic plans, prioritise objectives and contribute effectively to the preparation of such plans • Extensive experience of delivery and achievement at a senior management level • Strong leadership experience of complex teams • A proven track record in the delivery of large building projects and a wide range of customer-focused estates and facilities services • Experience of working closely with and directing professional staff and advisers • An understanding of the legal and financial aspects of major projects, property issues and landlord/tenant relationships • Experience of managing contracts and ensuring the best possible outcomes are achieved in these relationships • Extensive experience of managing large budgets, including capital expenditure and revenue. • A widely based understanding of resource management, including personnel, premises, residential accommodation. Desirable • Previous experience of working in Higher Education Sector • Understanding of Mechanical and Electrical services. • Listed buildings • Experience of sustainability/ environmental policies and maintaining ISO14001 certification • Experience of the landlord and tenant act//leases and licences.

Qualifications Essential • A degree or similar-level qualification in a relevant subject area • Membership of a relevant body Desirable • A recognised qualification in project Management or other relevant discipline • A recognised qualification in listed and heritage buildings • Ideally a related postgraduate qualification

• Excellent leadership and management experience and a proven track record in motivating and developing teams • Commercially orientated to seek out and maximise opportunities and engender this behaviour in the overall team • A high level of communication, advocacy and negotiation skills • An ability to build strong working relationships with other senior staff and to be a key team player • Significant experience of working with professional consultants and advisers and other external stakeholders • An ability to prioritise workload, delegate effectively and manage complex tasks to meet strategic goals on time and within budget Desirable • A strong commitment to customer service in a complex organisation.
