Job Title Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities (Capital. Property and Space) Department Estates and Facilities Directorate (EFD) Role reports to Executive Director of Estates and Facilities

Ensure that skill and competency levels are appropriate, developed or acquired and the importance of learning and professional development is emphasised. • Represent the University in relevant national and regional networks and on associated professional bodies. • To participate in the corporate governance of the university through contributing to the work of relevant committees and the governing body when required. • To provide the link from the corporate planning objectives to the estate planning/ management function and related support services activities. • To ensure that the work of the Estates & Facilities Directorate is focused on providing appropriate facilities compatible with the delivery of the Corporate Plan by working closely with senior management, professional services and academic colleagues. • To contribute to the university’s strategic planning, with particular responsibility for the physical environment and the physical resources, through preparation, revision and implementation of the university’s estates strategy. • To ensure an integrated service provision and a customer-focused approach that will best enable the directorate to support the delivery of the university’s core activities.

Main activities and responsibilities: • Deputise for the Executive Director of Estates and Facilities as required and therefore taking responsibility for reporting to the Senior Leadership Team; leading the Estates Department; developing and maintaining relationships with internal/external partners; and representing the University as the lead officer for the Estates Department as required. • Support the Director in the development, delivery and periodic review of the Estates Strategy and reporting KPIs. • Responsibility for the preparation, monitoring and delivery of annual and key performance indicators, working closely with the Finance Department. • Actively contribute to the work of the Estates Senior Leadership Team and take responsibility for cross-divisional initiatives and performance. • Lead and take overall responsibility for the space Systems Management and the provision of data. Coordinate and deliver the continued development and integration of department systems to enhance the management of the estate. • Lead and support the Space utilisation, space group and university policy. • Lead and take responsibility for the Property team, including all department budgets Capital, Property and Space expenditure plans, forecasts

Purpose of role To support the Executive Director of Estates and Facilities in the strategic leadership and effective management of the Estates department and to take responsibility for the leadership of Capital, Property and Space teams within the department. To deputies for the Executive Director of Estates and Facilities and attend the MCPG(Major Capital Projects Group). More generally to ensure the department maintains its focus on delivering key University objectives and adopts a proactive, customer focused approach in the delivery of services which support high quality environments for students, staff and other stakeholders.
