TENNIS First-year coach Jay Stroble’s squad finished 9-2 over- all and 3-2 in conference play after winning its first nine matches of the regular season. The Patriots finished third at the MAIS Class 6A State Tournament. The Lady Patri- ots finished fourth. Sophomore Will Hooks repeated as the 6A No. 1 singles champion. Anna Morgan Anderson, Hannah Slade, Addison Powell, Evan Holt, John Laws, and Hayden Harper advanced to the semifinals. GOLF MRA, with a revamped roster littered with a bevy of young golfers, finished fifth at the MAIS Class 6A State Tourna- ment staged at Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg. Max Hutchinson carded an 81 and Ramsey Milling an 82 as the Patriots finished with a team score of 340. Milling fired the low round of the year – a 72 during the Lamar Invitational at Meridian’s Northwood Country Club. The Patriots’ best team score (318) came in the PCS Invitational at Hattiesburg Country Club. BASEBALL Ranked among the top 25 teams in the country ac- cording to Baseball America for most of the season, the 2022 MRA baseball team broke the single season wins record with 36 victories and finished the season with a record of 36-6. The MAIS 6-A runners-up had five MAIS All-Conference players: Jack Dye, Peyton Martin, Conner Stewart, Jackson Evers, and Kaleb Lipscomb. Martin, Evers, and Stewart were also MAIS 1st Team All State honorees. The Diamond Patriots are led by Coach Allen Pavatte.
