L-Arbutin – is known as the plant-based derivative of HQ with tyrosinase inhibiting abilities and is typically regarded as a more stable, less sensitizing lightener. Kojic Acid – a fungal metabolic used when making sake, is also commonly associated with brightening formulas. This acid does not give an increase in exfoliation as seen in AHAs. It too works by inhibiting tyrosinase activity, like hydroquinone and is typically blended with other lightening ingredients. Norwegian Kelp – a powerful ingredient that not only inhibits tyrosinase activity but also slows the transfer of melanosomes into keratinocytes, dramatically reducing melanocyte activity. L-Alpha Bisabolol – a two-in-one ingredient that inhibits melanin synthesis and boosts antioxidant protection. L-Ascorbic Acid – known for its antioxidant and collagen synthesis properties however, it’s tyrosinase inhibiting properties support lightening of pigmentation. Azelaic Acid – another potent lightening alternative to hydroquinone but with very similar properties. One study revealed azelaic acid to have the same lightening capabilities as 4% hydroquinone when combined with a vitamin A. Maybe you’ve been using a prescription HQ and want to stop, or you are looking for a healthy alternative, Pigmentation Solutions has options for you. Naturale Mega Brightening Serum was initially developed in 2003 and revamped in 2007 when the incredible studies behind daisy flower came out. This potent serum uses a blend of natural lighteners combined with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant ingredients to lighten and brighten pigmentation and support the skin from a cellular level. It works like a 3% hydroquinone but without the concerns. Pair with “A” Renew and Radiant Renewal Serum for a potent PM rejuvenating trio.

Bellis Perennis Flower Extract - also known as daisy flower, works by influencing different pathways involved in melanogenesis. The first step is it blocks the binding and transfer of melanosomes from the melanocytes into the keratinocytes. Or in plain terms, it prevents the pigment from being deposited into the skin. Daisy flower also decreases tyrosinase activity during melanin formation, working very similar to HQ. In fact, clinical studies show this ingredient provides the same results as a 2-3% hydroquinone!
