evaporating from the epidermis layer of skin. Let’s take a deeper look into the causes and what is happening to the skin.
WHAT’S HAPPENING TO THE SKIN
The breakdown of the epidermis lipids cause the aqueous aspect of the cells to lose water. Hydration is key for maintaining a healthy barrier and having supple-looking skin. Water and moisture from the dermal layer of skin and travel through the epidermis and evaporate. A small percentage of water loss in the skin is expected however, when this occurs on a much larger scale skin will experience increased dryness, sensitivities and even flaking.
