PerformaX Elite_Welcome 2020 with Pain-Free Knees & Hips

WHAT PATIENTS ARE SAYING Dr. John’s commitment and expertise to provide me exceptional physical rehabilitative care at PerformaX begins with his utmost sensitivity and compassion. In addition to my physical therapy, Dr. John has taken extra steps to educate me in the dynamics of “mind over matter.” I appreciate the level of empathy he shows and his willingness to work with me to find collaborative resolutions. Dr. John’s proactive attention to my well-being as well as other patients is commendable, and I hold him in the highest regard. In regard to PerformaX Elite Physical Therapy, I am impressed with the atmosphere, the variety of multi-functional equipment, the extremely qualified therapists and the comprehensive treatment plans personally created for each individual patient. It’s rare to find a facility with the ease of interfacing between therapist and patient, between patient and patient, and an environment that embraces humor and employee camaraderie. Rehabilitation is challenging and sometimes perceived as intolerable, but the assurance and comfort offered by each PerformaX team member encourages one to strive to attain a new level of strength and mobility, both mentally and physically. I personally feel fortunate to have my rehabilitation at PerformaX and Dr. John Macabuhay as my physical therapist. The combination has motivated me to strive forward with purpose and to try not to fear the unknown. Thanks to Dr. John, I feel more confident with each movement I make.” - K. P.

CANNABIS CORNER: WHAT MODE OF CANNABIS DELIVERY IS RIGHT FOR YOU? Over the next two issues, I plan to contrast and compare four common methods of cannabis delivery; Inhalation, Sublingually, Topically and Orally. Let’s start with Inhalation and Sublingually. Similartothe inhalationmethod, theonset isrelatively quick (absorbed within 15-30 minutes). However, it doesn’t pose the same risk as smoking because its entry into thebody isvia thebloodstreamandnot the lungs. Dosing is also much more controlled as you deliver a designated number of drops or sprays for a desiredeffectoroutcome. This isextremely important for conditions that rely on accurate and repeatable dosages. And comparing sublingual to the inhalation method, the duration of the effect has been shown to bea little longer (up to3hours), therefore thepatient

Smoking and Vaping are the two ways that cannabis is inhaled. Smoking involves burning the flower (synonymous with burning tobacco while smoking cigarettes) and inhaling the active components. Vaporizingcausesthereleaseoftheactivecomponents not by burning the flower, but by heating it to a high enough temperature to create vapor. Vaporization of theflower isahealthieralternativetosmokingbecause it eliminates irritation of the throat and lungs. Inhalation of cannabis is typically via hand-pipes, water-pipes, rolling papers —“joints,” hookahs and pen concentrates. Cannabinoid entry occurs via the lungs before entering the blood stream. This effect is almost instantaneous and considered the fastest method of delivery. You can expect to feel the effects within 5 minutes of delivery with peak effect occurring at about 1 hour and a total duration of approximately 2 hours. Dosage accuracy and reproducibility is no doubt, challenging.

requires less frequent dosing. Next up; topicals and edibles!
