The Greater Holyoke YMCA is a not for profit 501(c)3 organization. We nurture the poten- tial of kids, promote healthy living and foster a sense of social responsibility. We serve Holyoke, Granby, and South Hadley, Massachusetts. We look forward to getting to know you! History The Greater Holyoke Y has proudly served the community since 1886. The world’s second most played sport – volleyball – was invented in 1895 at the Greater Holyoke Y by William Morgan. There’s a detailed history of Volleyball’s creation and early evolution on the International Volleyball Federation Website (FIVB). gather Tuesdays at 7:00 pm and Sundays at 10:00 am. Visit our website: www.habitation.church for more information The Greater Holyoke Y was first located at the corner of Appleton and High Streets in downtown Holyoke. The site included a gym and rooms for rent. Unfortunately the building was lost to fire in 1943. In 1950, a second building was completed at the corner of Appleton and Beech streets, also downtown. This has been our home ever since. The Y has significantly expanded the site’s original footprint twice, most recently adding our beautiful 25 - yard 8 lane pool.. "The Retreat at Norwich Lake is the Massachusetts campus of Timothy Hill – which seeks to provide ‘Transformation Through Love’. The Retreat at Norwich Lake does this by providing high quality hospitality to all who choose to stay with us – for a group retreat or individual family stay. Hours & Directions Hours of Operation Monday through Friday – 5:30 AM to 9:30 PM Saturday – 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Sunday – 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM The Retreat at Norwich Lake also runs a Christian summer sleep away camp in July for teens and kids from all backgrounds. Young people grow spiritually, make new friends, ride a horse, swim in our lake, jump on our water trampoline, kayak, shoot an arrow and have the time of their lives!!"
