Synthesis and properties of new well-defined polymeric material of exo-n-(triazole-cinchona alkaloids)norbornene-5,6-dicarboxyimide Marta Piętka, Mariusz Majchrzak, Karol Kacprzak Faculty of Chemistry, University of Poznań, Poznań, Poland In recent years, we have observed the quick development of polymeric materials chemistry and technology, accelerated by rapid progress in many areas of our lives from manufacturing of polymeric products to the dedicated biocompatible medicinal devices. Synthetic polymers, biopolymers and their modified derivatives are widely used in medicine and pharmacy. An important and crucial aim of modern research is stereoselective organic synthesis, effective separation of racemic mixtures and the ability to detect chiral compounds. Some examples of cinchona alkaloids have been utilized for the preparation of various types of chiral catalysts [1] . A few of their derivatives can be used as chiral ligands for transition metal catalysis [2] and organo/metal cooperative catalysis [3], but the very important application of cinchona alkaloids (CA) is their use as chiral organocatalysts [1, 4, 5] . The aim of this work is selective and controlled synthesis of novel polymeric materials with a well-defined structure based on norbornene imides and cinchona alkaloid polymers, via ring-opening metathesis polymerisation (ROMP).
