LAND USE Upon assessing the East Berry Street study area, many areas were identified as having potential for walkable/mixed-use development. The assessment examined existing land uses, street and block patterns, connectivity to surrounding neighborhoods, existing zoning, potential for street transformation, and proximity to major amenities such as schools, parks, or shopping centers. After conducting the survey, two Place Types emerged: Lifestyle Villages, and Neighborhood Nodes. These are in addition to the City’s already recognized Urban Villages. Place Types are used to help people visualize the character of redevelopment that a specific location could likely accommodate based on its locational context.
