Neighbors Care Alliance

Our efforts extend beyond food. This past Valentine’s Day, we partnered with the SaddleBrooke Paper Crafters Group to deliver handmade Valentine’s Day cards and gift bags to our recipients. We also included blank cards and stamps, encouraging them to reconnect with loved ones. The impact of this small gesture was truly heartwarming. Our volunteer drivers shared how delighted the clients were upon receiving their gifts. The following week, we witnessed the emotional connection these cards created. One recipient visited our office to express his gratitude. He shared that he gave one of the cards to the receptionist at his doctor’s office, to show his appreciation for her kindness and support. He also mentioned he was touched by receiving a card with a red laced heart and calligraphy that said, "Happy Valentine’s Day.” It brought back fond memories of his mother, who used to write in calligraphy. These moments remind us that small gestures can have a profound and lasting impact. Through thoughtful giving and meaningful partnerships, we bring light to those who may feel forgotten. Together, we are stronger. And together, we continue to spread hope, kindness, and joy—one meal, one card, and one heartfelt connection at a time. The Neighbors Care Alliance (NCA) is a network of neighborhood volunteer programs with a shared mission of helping older adults thrive safely in their homes for as long as possible. Programs serve specific geographic areas, and each is independently organized. Pima Council on Aging serves as the program administrator and provides tools to build infrastructure, volunteer training, opportunities for networking, access to community resources, and mileage reimbursement. The Power of Partnership and Thoughtful Giving By Perla Raygoza, Program Coordinator, Impact of Southern Arizona Building partnerships with organizations that share a mission to uplift those facing hardships is a powerful way to strengthen our community. By joining forces, we can reach more people and provide meaningful support. Recently, Impact of Southern Arizona had the honor of partnering with the Catalina Mountain Elks Club #2815, which generously donated $8,000 worth of food. This allowed us to distribute 250 food bags to older adults in Catalina, Oro Valley, and the Copper Corridor. Among the recipients were 53 homebound participants in our Mobile Meals Program, who receive weekly deliveries of frozen meals. Thanks to our volunteer drivers, these older adults not only receive food but also feel seen and cared for.
