SaskEnergy 2024-25 Annual Report

Management’s Discussion and Analysis

Outlook Safe, reliable and affordable energy is crucial for the prosperity of Saskatchewan’s people, businesses and industries. Addressing the impacts posed by the recent inflationary environment while continuing to provide affordable energy is increasingly challenging. Upholding the integrity and reliability of the Corporation’s system, expanding to meet customers’ growing needs and enhancing customer service is essential for present and future success. SaskEnergy anticipates a small increase in demand from the growing industrial and power generation sectors in 2025-26. While the number of residential customers connected to SaskEnergy’s distribution system is expected to continue increasing, total demand and revenue growth from this customer segment is expected to remain stable due to energy efficiency improvements. SaskEnergy is forecasting lower earnings in 2025-26 due to higher operating costs, more specifically, to address reliable and safe service for customers and to

invest in the adoption of digital technologies to enhance its services, maintain security in a changing cyber threat landscape and target more efficient supporting processes. Affordability remains a top priority for SaskEnergy and its focus on operational excellence will look to limit the extent of possible delivery rate increases in the future. SaskEnergy is committed to providing solutions and services that benefit customers and Saskatchewan by leveraging the Corporation’s expertise and the province’s private sector. Throughout 2025-26, SaskEnergy will increase its capital investment in the province, with key areas of focus including: maintaining the safety and reliability of the natural gas transmission and distribution systems; addressing future customer demand for natural gas service; enhancing customer experience; and continuing to support the emissions reduction strategy.
