Smart technology in everyday products Our latest generation V-Care shower toilets (page 16 ), combine the functionality of a toilet with the personal hygienic benefits of a bidet, fully customisable and remote-controlled to create the ultimate bathroom experience. Alternatively, the Aquacare shower toilet (page 18 ) benefits from an integrated and mechanically operated bidet function, as well as complete ease of installation, while our unique Rim-ex rimless toilet design (page 22 ) promotes effortless hygiene and beautiful clean lines. VitrA Clean A surface finish that makes VitrA sanitaryware products incredibly easy to care for. This special glazing process increases surface tension so the water flows easily across the surface. All that’s needed to keep the basins clean is a wipe with a damp cloth and the use of a mild detergent, making cleaning easier and helping to keep your bathroom looking its best. Shower toilets The health and hygiene benefits of washing with water after using the toilet are becoming better understood as people experience that just-showered feeling. Latest innovation and product developments have enabled the creation of a range of options but choosing a shower toilet that will meet your current and future needs can be daunting, so we have created this simple guide to help you through the process.
I have a limited budget which is the best shower toilet for me?
Money is no object, which shower toilet is the most luxurious?
VitrA’s Aquacare is the perfect choice for those working to a tight budget. The unit includes washing with water but does not require an electrical connection. It can be installed just like a standard WC which offers savings on labour costs too.
The streamlined V-Care Prime is the top of the range shower WC from VitrA. Features include oscillating and pulsating jet washing options, adjustable drying temperature, five-seat temperature options, automatic purification, remote operation, a stylish and reassuring light for night use, remote seat opening and closing and many more features besides.
A shower toilet combines the functionality of a WC with the cleaning properties of a bidet all in one product – no need to find space for a bidet. Using a shower toilet is also kinder and gentler to you and there are also notable environmental benefits through the reduced reliance on toilet paper. At VitrA, we offer a range of options depending on what kind of washing experience you want. Sophisticated multifunction shower-toilets offer wash, dry, and room deodorise features. Some have helpful additions such as sensor lighting which will light up the bathroom when anyone enters the room. At the entry level the Aquacare shower toilet offers just the simple convenience of washing with water.
Here are some key questions to consider to help navigate you through the choice of shower toilets:
So, what is a shower toilet in simple terms? At its simplest a shower toilet is a standard toilet with the addition of a wash-with-water feature. They can also be referred to as bidet-toilets or washlets. As you move through the options you can choose additional features, one of the most important is to ensure the water is thermostatically controlled for maximum comfort and washing effectiveness.
Is a shower toilet environmentally friendly? Did you know that a single roll of toilet paper uses 37 gallons of water to manufacture? Or that 27,000 trees are flushed down the drain every day? On average, toilet paper usage is reduced by 75% when using a shower toilet. Some shower toilets, such as VitrA’s V-Care Comfort model, offer a completely paperless solution, thanks to the washing and drying features.
So why do you need a shower toilet, when we have toilet paper?
Will I need a power connection? That depends.
Toilet paper is environmentally unfriendly, costly and has an unseen impact in our sewer systems. Toilet paper is not as effective at cleaning the body as water. Shower toilets significantly reduce the amount of toilet paper needed, which is better for the environment and for your pocket. My bathroom is small – which unit is best suited to a small space? The shower toilets from VitrA use the same amount of space as a standard WC.
No, if you choose from the Aquacare range these are purely mechanical not requiring any power connection, all you need is hot and cold-water feeds. If you choose from the V-Care range given the additional features such as the heated seat you will need a power source. The work must be done by a Part P compliant electrician and meet all the regulations for bathroom electrical installations.
Are all shower toilets wall-hung? No, VitrA offers both floor-standing and wall-hung options.

VitrA values your health The refreshing shower feeling VitrA believes that water is fundamental for personal hygiene and wellbeing. To avoid skin irritation and discomfort caused by using toilet paper, VitrA Aquacare offers a natural and refreshing, water based cleaning experience. Designed as an integrated mechanical bidet function, VitrA Aquacare ensures a better personal hygiene experience with less toilet paper usage. Aquacare shower toilet Developed by the VitrA Design and Innovation Team, Aquacare is a bidet and toilet in one, offering a refreshing, clean and hygienic bathroom experience. No electrical connections are required as the water is controlled via standard plumbing methods. The Integra, Options and M-Line Aquacare toilets feature soft-closing seats and our hygienic Rim-ex design (see page 22 ), and can also be used with the Vitrus cistern (see page 218 ). When installing an Aquacare WC there is no additional equipment or preparation required for installation. There is also a choice of WC shape to ensure it will blend with any bathroom design. The mixer tap can either be wall-mounted or integrated into the WC design for the ultimate in choice and flexibility.
Increased hygiene Aquacare WCs feature a non-return valve providing an air break to prevent contaminated water from the pan travelling back through the system. Fully compatible with the EN 1717 regulation which protects against the pollution of drinking water. Beautifully designed The Aquacare technology is hidden within the pan so it looks like a regular toilet and will integrate with any bathroom design. A soft-close seat is included with all models. Rim-ex technology is also included as standard making the toilet more hygienic and easier to clean. Thermostatic control The M-Line and Options Aquacare toilets offer a thermostatic feature to ensure a consistent water temperature, to a maximum of 38° temperature. This is controlled via a mixer valve mounted on the side of the toilet.

Rim-ex Rim-ex harnesses the latest in toilet bowl design. With a rimless, smooth internal pan that eliminates anywhere for germs and dirt to accumulate, the toilet that stays cleaner for longer and actively resists dirt build up.
Tests prove Rim-ex is 95% more hygienic than standard toilet pans * and it is much easier to clean – as there are no ledges you have complete visibility of the bowl. The unique design of the pan incorporates a water diverter to direct the flush around the bowl, which is easily removed for cleaning.
