E n 2012, j’ai eu la chance d’être acceptée dans le programme PATIO (Prestations d’aide au travail indépendant de l’Ontario) à un moment de ma vie où j’avais décidé de démarrer ma propre entreprise dans le design de sites web et de graphisme. Le programme et la coordonnatrice ont apporté leur soutien constant et sont une source continue d’informations pour m’aider à gérer ma petite entreprise à son meilleur avantage. La formation a été instructive et complète et m’a aidé à me préparer pour les aspects de la gestion de mon entreprise avec lesquels je n’étais pas encore familière, tels que les complexités spécifiques de la tenue des livres financiers de l’entreprise. Il y avait de la formation et de l’information au sujet de la publicité, une variété de ressources disponibles pour m’aider à organiser et accéder à ce dont j’avais besoin pour faire un début réussi et professionnel dans cette aventure passionnante. Je recommande fortement à tous ceux qui sont sérieux au sujet du démarrage d’une entreprise de s’informer s’il s’agit là d’une option qui serait bénéfique pour eux. I n 2012, I had the good fortune of being accepted into the OSEB (Ontario Self- Employment Benefit) program at a time in my life when I had decided to start my own business in web and graphic design. The program and coordinator have provided ceaseless support and are a continuing source of information to help me run my small business to its best advantage. The training was informative and complete and helped prepare me for the aspects of running my business with which I was not yet familiar, such as the specific intricacies of maintaining financial records for a business. There was training and information about marketing, resources available to me and everything to help me organise and access what I needed to make a successful and professional beginning in this exciting venture. I would highly recommend that anyone who is serious about starting a business starts to investigate whether this is an option that would help them. GRENVILLE | The late Eunice Macaulay, an Academy Award-winning animator, will be honoured November 6 at Cinéma Lau- rentian in Grenville. Cinema II will be renamed the “Eunice Macaulay Room” in honour of the British- born artist, who retired to Vankleek Hill in 1990 and died July 8, three days after her 90 th birthday. In 1978, Macaulay won an Oscar when the National Film Board’s Spe- cial Delivery was named Best Animated Short Film. November 6 will also mark the first-year anniversary of the renovated cinemas with new seats, screens and acoustics, including the latest technology featuring digital and 3-D projection and Dolby sound. A special cinema night will be held in the
new Eunice Macaulay Room, beginning with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 6:30 p.m., a short presentation at 7 p.m. and the screening of a feature film at 7:15 p.m. Admission is free for these two special events. Cinema 1 opens at 7 p.m. Born Eunice Bagley, Macaulay served as a radio mechanic with the Royal Navy in the last years of World War II. A Christmas card she created for her own amusement brought her to the attention of Gaumont British Animation. Hired as a tracer in 1948, she soon became a supervisor in charge of 30 inkers and painters. She and her hus- band moved to Canada in the early 1960s, where, among other things, she fashioned puppets for the pulp and paper pavilion at Expo ’67.
