TVA in CHEATHAM COUNTY

Fall 2019
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) sent a contractor to complete an “historical survey” of property surrounding 286 acres for sale on Lockertsville Rd. Many property owners refused to speak to the man because he would not provide the name of the company he represented. When pushed, he stated that he worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) as a contractor and provided the name and number of TVA project manager Robert Kulisek to call for more information. Kulisek would not return phone calls or emails when contacted over a several-week period. Cheatham County Economic Development Director Jerome Terrell was asked to provide any information available concerning the potential sale of the property to the TVA. Terrell did confirm that Robert Kulisek worked for TVA in their “Major Projects” area. Terrell stated in emails that TVA would receive a 6-month option to purchase the land as they were looking at two other properties and that the Lockertsville property “may not be selected” for purchase.

September 2, 2020 “The United States of America” purchased the 286 acres on Lockertsville Rd. on behalf of TVA for an undisclosed total sum. (A FOIA request was made by Fox17 Nashville in the fall of 2023, but the request for the purchase price has been ignored to date.) The original listing price of the property was $1.4 million. The deed states the property sold “FOR AND IN CONSIDERATION of the sum of TEN AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($10), cash in hand paid, and other good and valuable consideration . . . “ The Cheatham County Register of Deeds confirmed “federal government agencies are not forced to disclose the price paid for property” within paperwork filed with the Cheatham County Register of Deeds.
