Comments/Notable Observations

A supplemental plan for special education is in development and will align with our efforts to develop a strong MTSS program for GASD. Our Title I program services students in K-5 and will have its own supplemental plan attending to targeted needs in literacy. Our supervisor of student services is aligning our services for students K-12 for consistently in response, delivery, and organization of services for all students and families. There will be a targeted focus on the alignment of our health and wellness curriculum, truancy interventions, and the development of a secondary peer mentorship program.

K-12 Guidance Plan (339 Plan)

GASD has a 339 plan in place for each building (primary, elementary, middle, and high.)

GASD has a multi-year plan for technology but will be revisiting the plan to account for the 1:1 achievement earlier than expected and to include professional development opportunities for instructional use of technology and the development of building specific AI regulations/practices to support the approval of a district AI policy. Our new EL teacher is coordinating services for students and families for a more consistent program that aligns to our district goals and MTSS efforts recognizing the bilingualism is a strength for students, not a barrier. Our induction plan includes a three-year program to support new teachers and includes classroom visits and mentoring. The gifted education plan addresses the need for support for general education teachers in differentiated opportunities for our advanced learners and includes a more articulated screening and identification process. GASD will provide opportunities for content specific professional development that includes UDL practices and designing coherent instruction. This will include questioning and discussion techniques, the use of assessment in instruction and progress monitoring aligned to our assessment framework. GASD will continue to design curriculum aligned to the standards and inclusive of formative, common assessments to monitor progress towards district goals.
