“we ask Him for things which He knows would not make us happy, if we had them, so He does not always answer our prayers in just the way we expect. Perhaps He never sends us the thing for which we ask, or maybe He asks us to wait until the time comes when that for which we ask will make us happy.” “I guess we’re pretty lucky to have the Lord Jesus to look after us like that,” said one of the boys thought fully. “Maybe, w h e n we pray for something, we should ask Him to send it to us if it will be good for us to have it.” That night when Ruth prayed she said, "Thank You again, Lord Jesus, for my beautiful dq|l. I’m so glad You thought it was all right for me to have her, for I love her very much. And, Lord Jesus, if I ever ask You for something which You think is not good for me to have, please don’t send it to me; and please help me to love You always.” Jumbled Words Here is another list of words with the letters jumbled. me this doll, and I want to thank Him for it.” Then Ruth and her mother and Billy knelt beside the davenport and Ruth prayed but loud as she thanked the Lord for answering her prayer. Ruth’s mother and daddy wondered whom the Lord Jesus had used to buy the doll' for her. They asked their friends and their neighbors but no one seemed to know, and they never learned who had placed the gift on their porch. They were thankful that someone who loved the Lord Jesus very much had obeyed His voice when He spoke to them about doing this kind thing for Ruth. The next time the Bible Class met, Ruth took her doll, and when the teacher asked if any b o y or girl wanted to thank the Lord for anything, Ruth said she wanted to thank Him for answering her prayer and sending the lovely doll to her for her birthday. Then she held her doll up high for everybody to see her. “Ruth,” said her teacher, “your doll is beautiful and we are all happy about the answer to your prayer. The Lord Jesus knew that the doll would be a blessing to you. But sometimes,” the teacher went on kindly, speaking . to all the boys and girls in the room,

One day, as Ruth sat thinking long ingly of the doll, she remembered a verse of Scripture she had memorized in the Bible Class. It was one of the Lord Jesus’ promises: “If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.” “Why, then,” said Ruth, “I .will ask the Lord Jesus to give me the doll, and He will do it!” Every night after that, as she knelt by her bedside to pray, she reminded the Lord of His promise in the Holy Word, and asked Him to send hey the doll. At last the evening before her birth day came. It was dark outside and a chill wind was blowing, but within their warm, bright livingroom Ruth and Billy played quietly while their mother prepared supper. Suddenly, Ruth heard a noise on the porch. The doorbell did not ring and there was no sound of a knock, but so sure was she that she had heard someone, she ran to the door and flung it wide open. No one was in sight but there on the porch, close to the doof, lay a big box. Ruth was puzzled. She picked it up and carried it inside. On a little tag tied to the box she read, “With love to Ruth.” “Mother! Mother!” she called ex citedly. “Come quick! I found a big box on the porch, and it’s for me!” Ruth’s fingers trepibled so much she could hardly Untie the pretty ribbon around the box. When she lifted the cover she could scarcely believe that what she saw was really true, for there in bright tissue paper wrapping lay the very doll for which she had prayed! Her brown eyes danced as she lifted the doll f r o m the box and clasped it in her arms. The Lord Jesus had heard her prayer; He had kept His word! “Mother, I know the Lord Jesus sent Answers to September Jumbled Words Contest 1. Ink (3 John 13). 2. School (Acts 19:9). 3.
