For the Children M y C hurch and O ther C hurches A cts 15:1-9 MEMORY VERSE: “We are la bourers together with God” (1 Cor. 3:9). -.AIM: To teach that all who have received the Lord Jesus Christ as per sonal Saviour are Christians regard less of the church to.which they may belong, or whatever their race. APPROACH: Many Christians be lieve that only those who are members of the church to which they belong are Christians. We must remember that even in the first churches there were differences of opinion about some of the teachings of God’s Word, but the only thing that really mattered greatly was whether or not the people had' accepted the Lord Jesus as personal'1 Saviour. LESSON STORY: As the mission aries and other Christians told more and more people about the Lord Jesus, more churches were formed; and soon there were differences of opinion about what certain verses in God’s Word meant and what Christians should do, and should not do. In one group of Christians, there was an argument about whether believers should obey Moses’ law in the Old Testament, or Christ’s laws in the New Testament. To decide which was correct, the two missionaries, Paul and Barnabas, and some other Christian men were sent to the main church in Jerusalem to ask the Christians there what was the correct thing to teach. When the men came to Jerusalem, they told the church members what the argument had been and asked for help in settling it. After some of the men had said what they believed should be done, Peter rose up in the meeting and said that the Jews and those who were not Jews, alb believers, should live the same in their Christian lives. He also said that the main thing was to bring the Gospel message of Christ’s death for sin to all men, and not to ! argue over the things that were of less importance. In our churches, and when we are I with our friends, we must remember that salvation through the blood of the Lord Jesus is the main teaching in God’s Word. There are many other teachings from the Bible that are very important for us to believe, but we must not feel that only we teach God’s Word correctly. When people are will ing to accept the Lord Jesus as their Saviour, and the Holy Spirit gives them the faith to do this thing, they become our fellow-Christians and we must receive them as such, regardless of their church or color.
