Inspired by the texture movement within interior design, bathroom tiles come in a range of finishes that can subtly add interest and layers of dimension. One of VADO ’s favourite trend focused designs is the Subway Lab tiles by Johnson Tiles. Inspired by modern architecture and form to create unique pieces of art on your bathroom walls.

Texture has always played an essential role in home interiors and is a trend that is here to stay; from plush textiles that create warmth and depth to raw and natural woodwork that brings an element of nature to your design scheme. Connecting our senses through touch can spark a multitude of emotions as well as evoking nostalgic memories.

LEVEL UP WITH ACCESSORIES

Accessories are a quick and budget friendly way to add an extra dimension to your bathroom. Bath linen is a great place to start by mix and matching different materials and tones. You could also store your towels in a woven basket or rattan storage; as well as introducing concrete textures with the use of soap dispensers and pots.

GO BOLD WITH BRASSWARE

Textured brassware is currently dominating the world of bathroom trends, thanks to its artistic detailing and tactile element. Create a statement with the diamond cut knurled detailing of Knurled Accents, or in complete contrast our Omika collection designed by Jo Love that embraces the soft geometric textures found in water, bringing the outside in.

FINISHING TOUCHES

The small finishing touches to your bathroom are just as important as choosing your taps or shower, as they allow your personality and unique style to shine through. Try swapping your towel rails and robe hooks for our Brushed Knurled Accents accessories, with diamond cut knurled detailing to subtly add texture. For added dimension and colour, artwork is often overlooked for a bathroom but a great way to bring some life to your walls.

TREND REPORT: BRINGING THE OUTSIDE IN

THRIVING IN HUMIDITY AND MODERATE LIGHT

For smaller bathrooms, hanging baskets and wall mounted shelving can provide the perfect location for spider plants and air plants as they require little attention, obtaining most of their water from moisture in the air. For larger bathrooms, small wooden stools and tables can offer a more aesthetically-pleasing home for ferns, orchids or aloe vera, each thriving in humidity and moderate light. Alternatively, the full-bodied snake plant or Aspidistra plant can happily reside in a complementary pot on the floor.

OMIKA

With wooden surfaces, autumnal shades and open, natural lighting high on the agenda for contemporary bathroom designers, bringing the outside in has never been so important. Made increasingly popular by influencers across the globe, house plants have become the latest to join the outdoor’s indoor scene as a quick, easy and effective fix for freshening up the bathroom.

As we look to recreate that sought-after, lounge-like haven, the recent influx of living room furniture has gone hand-in-hand with a range of indoor and outdoor plants; living proof of the bathroom becoming an extension of the house (and indeed the garden).

For those who liken their shower space to a personal rainforest retreat, Chinese evergreens and dragon plants would be an ideal choice for your bathroom, flourishing in steam and low-lit areas. Whilst bamboo epitomises the fascinating colour, form and size that plants can bring to interior design.

REFLECT LIGHT USING MIRRORS

Despite being the smallest room in the house, the downstairs toilet or cloakroom is one place where you can really show off your individual style. Through incorporating stylish accessories and functional cloakroom storage even the smallest of bathrooms can be a unique yet practical space for your guests to explore.

ADD A PERSONAL TOUCH

Stamp your personality and bring the room to life, using decorative accessories that reflect your personal style or displaying treasured memories and photos. If you love the coast then escape to the beach anytime with seaside hues of ocean blues, greens and sandy beiges. Add natural textures and striped textiles to create a fresh and relaxed nautical look, whilst personalising with treasures such as postcards and photos. Finish off with nautical accessories such as a porthole mirror, pretty glass jars or seashells to conjure happy holiday memories.

MAKE A STATEMENT WITH CREATIVE TILES

CLOAKROOMS WITH PERSONALITY

Tiles are an ideal way to create a stand-out feature in a compact cloakroom, whether it be through pops of colour, a fresh pattern or unconventional shape there are options to suit every aesthetic. Statement floor tiles are also great way to add some personality to a compact, minimalistic space. Mosaic tiles create a contemporary and stylish feature in any small downstairs toilet in need of a splash of colour. There are a host of colours, prints, patterns, shapes, and sizes to choose from that any daring interior enthusiast will love. Create this look using Kasbah Mix from Johnson Tiles, teamed with a contrasting paint colour to add extra drama.

For a more dramatic look scalloped tiles are slowly swimming their way into modern interiors. One of our favourite collections is the Symmetry - Zinc Gloss Collection from Johnson Tiles. With a colour palette of shimmery blues and greens inspired by A Mermaid’s Tail, these tiles are perfect for adding a striking touch to your space.

Using patterned tiles is a great way to break up a monochromatic design scheme, as well as adding interest to your walls. These tiles from Johnsons Tiles ‘One’ collection are perfect to adding subtle hints of black and grey throughout the bathroom without having them as the main feature of your space; they can also double up as beautiful pieces of art.

CLOAKROOM

Floor to ceiling black tiles is a sure way to create a strong statement throughout your bathroom, as well as a calm, relaxing environment. Pair black tiles with contrast flooring or different textures to avoid the space feeling too enclosed, as well as a white bath and basin to help balance the light.

ACCESSORIES

If you’re thinking of testing out a monochrome design scheme, an easy way to do this is with prints and little decorative pots to place into your bathroom; as they say, sometimes less is more! By doing this you don’t have to make any permanent changes to your bathroom, it’s easy to switch up and most importantly, budget friendly! This graphical print from Desenio offers a soft monochrome design with off-white and dark grey patterns, ideal for a small shelf alongside some terrazzo style candles holders or bathroom plants.

Black tiles work perfectly with chrome brassware, allowing the light to reflect from the high shine material. Our elegant Geo Wall Mounted Basin Mixer creates contrast and texture against the depth of the satin black tiles, whilst still maintaining the simplicity of the monochrome trend.
