RUGBY The rugby season was once again short but action-packed. We saw some of our U8s start Rugby for the first time and get used to a new sport. We saw some U9s develop their skills from the previous year, and finally, at the end of the season, we even managed to have a contact rugby match against Northbourne Park,

which ended in a thrilling draw. Both teams were truly magnificent. We are excited to see how this develops as they go further up the School. Our U11 teams were busy throughout the season, and we even saw some start to play contact rugby. Our U11A team was once again led by Captain Farrah Dickinson. She was magnificent and led the team superbly. We had a pre-season development afternoon with Northbourne Park, and after Christmas, it was our first match against Wellesley Haddon Dene. It was a thrilling afternoon, with our U11A team taking the win. CRICKET This year’s cricket season was an exciting one at St Lawrence College Junior School. We saw lots of our U8 pupils starting to play cricket for the first time, and several of them showed great potential for the future. Several of the teams played some very good cricket and were hitting plenty of fours and sixes.

On 25 January, it was our turn to host the rugby 7s tournament. We held the event on Newlands and were lucky to have senior school students referee the games. Our team played incredibly well and really showcased how far they had come as a team. This gave the team a tremendous platform to go out and play some magnificent rugby at the Thanet Schools Tag Tournament, which saw St Lawrence top their first group and finish top, then go on to win overall. A fantastic end to the season.

Our U11B were superb throughout the season, playing some highly entertaining cricket and winning plenty of matches. This year we saw far more pupils training with the hard ball during practice, and there has been a flow of players trying to break into the hard ball team. We had several closely fought games with just a few runs in it. Our Captain, Algie Moore, hit a fantastic 50 against his old school in a great game of cricket which saw St Lawrence take the victory. The U12 vs U11 fixture at the end of the season was a fantastic way to end a very enjoyable season.
