RECEPTION VISIT TO BROGDALE Reception had a beautiful, sunny day for their trip to the National Fruit collection at Brogdale Farm. The children enjoyed exploring the apple collection and tasting the different varieties. They collected a whole trolley load of apples, which they chopped, scratted and pressed into their own apple juice. Then there was the opportunity to explore the musical and sensory gardens and search around the pond for wildlife, where they were most excited to find a newt. What a lovely day!
THE BEANEY HOUSE OF ART AND KNOWLEDGE Year 5 set off on the train for a field trip to The Beaney House of Art and Knowledge at Canterbury Library. This was an exciting trip designed to enrich the children’s learning of Victorian Britain through undertaking research in the museum. They had the chance to make Victorian toys in the workshop, to gain an insight into the life of a Victorian child. They also had the opportunity to dress up
as Victorian children and discover toys lost under the floorboards of the local buildings. The day finished with a workshop learning how to make traditional marbles which they could take home with them. An enjoyable day was had by all.
