OFFLOADER BRACES

Are you Providing ‘SAFE’ Offloading?

Offloading knee braces have grown significantly in their use over the last 5 years. The number of patients presenting with Knee Osteoarthritis is increasing, resulting in lengthy waiting times for surgery and an increased focus on non-surgical management ₄. Designed to reduce the pressure through the affected compartment of the knee, offloader braces are available in various designs and concepts. Considered a cost-effective option for managing the symptoms of Knee OA, offloaders play a key role in helping patients. Interestingly, the NICE guidelines suggest that patients shouldn’t actually be provided with a device such as a brace, unless they meet the following criteria: • There is joint instability or abnormal loading AND • Therapeutic exercise is unsuitable or ineffective without the aid of a device, AND • The addition of a device is likely to improve movement and function

This allows 4 key areas that offloader braces should address: • Stability • Alignment

• Function • Exercise

Our DonJoy brand, most commonly known for ROM and ACL Style braces, has developed a full range of braces to meet the needs of patients at various stages of Osteoarthritis. Designed to be as comfortable as possible, whilst providing effective offloading and functional stability, DonJoy braces help patients across the world manage their symptoms and get back to the activities they love.

Our most popular offloading brace is the OA Nano. Our lightest weight double-upright offloader, the Nano combines clinically proven offloading ₅ with the unrivalled stability and comfort needed to help patients manage their symptoms.
