It analyses how Hezbollah seeks to restore its internal cohesion and reframe the Lebanese front within a wider regional confrontation, thereby reinforcing the link between its role and Iran’s position. In contrast, the Lebanese state is pursuing a different path, aiming to differentiate itself from Hezbollah, constrain its security role, and reassert control over the decision of war and peace through direct negotiations with Israel. The paper also explores the overlap of these trajectories across two interconnected negotiation arenas—Lebanese-Israeli and US-Iranian— showing how this overlap creates varying margins of manoeuver for each actor and shapes the management and trajectory of the conflict.
