Our recent conference in Vancouver still invokes memories of truly memorable learning, networking and hospitality held over three sunny spring days. Big thanks to Ron Segev and the team for their huge efforts. If you didn’t manage to make it, you can see a snapshot of what you missed with our official conference video . While you’re reviewing it don’t forget to sign up for our next major event taking place in Lisbon in September. IMGL conferences are all different, but Lisbon is sure to be just as memorable in its own unique way – you won’t want to miss it. Co-located with the SBC Summit, it’s sure to be popular. You can check out the really inspiring agenda and social program on the IMGL website. Early bird pricing runs for the next few weeks only, so be sure to secure your place at the right price. Vancouver was also a chance to introduce IMGL members to some of the work being done behind the scenes in our various committees. Many of these updates can be examined at length on the member area of our website, so I will bring you only some personal highlights. I was excited to hear about changes to our sponsorship offer which I’m sure will be both attractive to firms, operators and industry suppliers, as well as a vital contribution to the ongoing work of IMGL. We heard of plans to reshape our Education Committee and relaunch our Student Writing Competition from our new chair, Becky Harris, as well as reports from our Publication and Marketing Committee on a new initiative with SBC to give members a platform on
the popular iGaming Daily Podcast. The first of these has gone out with more in the pipeline. Do have a listen and, if there’s a topic you’d like to promote, do reach out to phil@IMGL.org. Our Emerging Markets Committee is continuing to spread word of IMGL around the world, but they also reminded us that every member can advocate for IMGL by engaging with gaming lawyers and regulators that you encounter and sharing the benefits of membership with them. On the topic of new markets, our Masterclass product is proving ever green with requests for expert legal and practical sessions from multiple jurisdictions around the globe. We will shortly be publishing the full schedule of Masterclasses and I would encourage all of you who are travelling to these events to raise your hand and get involved. Lastly we heard from a new group, the IMGL 2040 Committee, led by James Scicluna. They have been tasked with imagining what our organization will look like in 15 years’ time. They have just started their work but I’m very much looking forward to hearing the result of their blue-sky brainstorming. In short, IMGL is making the most of the present while looking forward to what’s to come and it’s always a pleasure to have you on board as an active member. I look forward to combining your ideas with those of our committees as we chart our path shaping the future of gaming law.
