It is also the invisible social network of an organisation. A large part of learning does not happen in formal meetings, but in

informal moments. Short conversations after a sales meeting, small talk in the kitchen, arguments between teams, quick comments in the hallway. These may sound like small things, but company culture is often built exactly in these moments. This may be why some companies are calling

employees back to the office. Not only for productivity, but for how knowledge moves inside the organisation. In remote work, productivity can be measured. But it is much harder to measure how much of the invisible learning system inside companies may be lost.

The chart below shows the trend in workplace visits after the pandemic. Offices emptied during the pandemic, and in recent years there has been a gradual return. Still, traffic remains below pre-pandemic levels.
