Archival Imaging Services: Preserving Visual History by Peri Hayes Jonathan Mitchell, proud Owner of Archival Imaging Services, specializes in the professional digitization, restoration and preservation of photographic materials. Prior to, he had been restoring photos for family and friends when he experienced an epiphany: “What began as a personal project quickly turned into something much more meaningful when I saw the emotional responses people had to getting back images they thought were lost. That’s when it really clicked that this work matters.” “At the same time, I realized there was a gap locally,” Jonathan continues. “People wanted careful, professional photo restoration and preservation, but there wasn’t a dedicated service focused solely on that level of care and archival standards. Once I understood that my skills, my interest in family history and a real community need all aligned, bringing Archival Imaging Services to fruition felt less like a choice and more like the natural next step.” Officially launching his business last December, Jonathan operates as a sole proprietorship. He is responsible for client consultations, digitization, restoration, archival printing and more – all while facilitating a rewarding experience for his appreciated customers. “Keeping it solo allows me to maintain consistent quality, careful handling, and a personal connection with every project I take on.” Jonathan further elaborates on what his services entails: “I work with prints, slides and negatives, carefully converting them into high-quality digital files, repairing damage, correcting colour, and restoring images while preserving their original character. I also offer archival-quality photographic printing using professional inks and papers designed to last
for generations. At its core, the service is about protecting irreplaceable photographs – and helping families preserve and pass on their visual history with care and integrity.”
