Behind many hardworking family businesses stands a mother whose quiet strength built the foundation for everything that followed. When our father, opened Yurek Pharmacy in 1963, he was a 35 year old with big dreams and three young children. Over the years, there would be three more. Behind the counter, he built trust with customers who became friends. But behind the scenes, our mother, Mary Yurek, was building something just as important — the steady world that made that dream possible. She managed it all: six children, endless meals, school routines, and the ups and downs of running a household on long workdays and late nights. She made sure birthdays were celebrated, homework got done, church was attended, and laughter still filled the house. In countless unseen ways, she kept life balanced while our father grew the business that continues to serve this community today. Mom wasn’t an owner or employee, yet she was Dad’s true partner. Her dedication gave my father the freedom to focus on serving others. Her unwavering belief and encouragement carried him through the hard years when success was uncertain. And her example of quiet perseverance shaped the next generation — the children who would one day carry that same torch forward. Mothers often don’t appear on the business license or payroll, yet their contribution is invaluable. Their patience, encouragement, and sacrifices make family ventures possible. They teach resilience, teamwork, and compassion—qualities that become part of a company’s identity.
