TRUTH VS. DOGMA, by J. C, Macau- lay. Not often is there published a book on Roman Catholicism as con cise, as accurate and as authoritative as this excellent little volume by the able and consecrated pastor of the Wheaton Bible Church. It is evident that considerable research has gone into these sermons which were first preached to Dr. Macaulay’s own con gregation, His purpose in putting them into print is, in the author’s words, “to instruct our Protestant Christians in the true differences between the two faiths” and “to turn some who have been taught in the sacramen- tarianism of Rome to the freedom of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Without any expression of animosity toward those of the Catholic faith, he nevertheless makes some startling disclosures with regard to the Roman views of papal infallibility, the mean ing of the mass, the significance of the priesthood, and other teachings, supporting his statements throughout with quotations from Catholic author ities. The chapters on "The Perpetual Sacrifice” and "The Cult of Mary” Should be in the hands of every min ister and Bible student. This book may be given to Catholics without fear of offense*; there is even a chapter on the lessons that Protestants may learn from Catholicism. A bibliography is included. 125 pages. Moody Press, 153 Institute Place, Chicago, 111. Cloth. Price $1.25. THE FAITHFUL WORD, by John Hess McComb, D.D. Here is another volume from the facile pen of the pastor of the Broadway Presbyterian Church of New York. There are thirteen chapters on such vital subjects as eternal se curity, God’s plan, the Second Coming of Christ, and the last judgment. The approach is direct, and the treatment simple; the good outline is very help ful. 106 pages. Fleming H. Revell, New York, N. Y. Cloth. Price $1.25. PRINCE OF THE PULPIT, by Joe W. Burton, of the Sunday School Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. This is not a biography, but what the au thor calls a “pen picture” of the late great Southern preacher, Dr. George W. Truett, of Dallas, Texas. Mr. Burton attempts to reproduce the driving force and spirit of this famous man in a series of six chapters, the information for the most part having been gained from personal companionship with him. 87 pages. Zondervan Pub. Co., Grand Rapids. Cloth. Price $1.00.

THAT YOU MIGHT BELIEVE, by Henry M. Morris. While the author is an instructor in civil engineering in the Rice Institute of Houston, Texas, he is also an earnest Christian worker in many fields. According to the testi mony of Mr. Morris, this book grew out of a conviction for the need of a rational and conclusive refutation of the pseudo-scientific teaching against the Bible which the modern college student must meet. -Very little new material along this, line is advanced, but it is a fine collation of evidences presented in an interesting and per suasive fashion. Chapter headings in clude; Science, Evolution, Flood, His tory, Internal Evidences, Plan of God. Good Books, Inc., Chicago. Cloth. Price $1.50. THE QUEST, by Ludwig Bauer. This Is a fictitious tale of the life and experi ences of three shepherds to whom the wonderful news of the birth of a Saviour in Bethlehem was delivered. The cruelty of Herod and the oppres sions by the Romans are undone thirty-three years later by the healing ministry of the Prophet of Nazareth. Well written, and beautifully bound, it will serve well as a gift book. 24 pages. Concordia Pub. House, St. Louis, Mo. Cloth. Price $2.50. BEHOLD YOUR KING, by Florence Marvyne Bauer. An imaginative tale of Jonathan of Cyrene, who comes to Palestine during the days of Christ upon earth, this book is interesting reading. Jonathan is carried through world-shaking events and comes in contact with many characters from the Gospels. 400 pages. Bobbs-Merrill, Indianapolis, and New York. Cloth. Price $2.75. GENESIS, by W. H. Griffith Thomas, D.D. The superiority of Dr. Thomas’ devotional writings is unquestioned, and the publishers have done a real service to the Church of Christ in bringing out a new edition of this vol ume. This book was out of print for a long time, and secondhand copies were sold at a premium. Ministers and Sunday school teachers, who wish to be grounded in “the book of begin nings,” should secure this excellent work. 507 pages. Eerdmans Pub. Co., Grand Rapids, Mich. Cloth. Price $3.50.
