Leader—This is the month when we go back to school. So today we’ll have a lesson in arithmetic. In the Bible, there are how many books? Answer—66. Leader—How many books in the Old Testament? Answer—39. Leader—How many books in the New Testament? Answer—27. Leader—Here is an easy way to re­ memberTiow many books there are in each. (Place on the board, the printed words OLD TESTAMENT, and NEW TESTAMENT.) How many letters in the word OLD? Answer—3. Leader—(Place the digit 3 under the word OLD.) How many letters in the word TESTAMENT? Answer—9. Leader—There are 39 books in the Old Testament. (Do the same with the words NEW TESTAMENT.) But there are not 39 books in the NewTestament. However, the message of the cross is given special prominence here, so we shall place a cross between these dig­ its. Now, what are 3 times 9? Answer—27. Leader—There are 27 books in the New Testament. What is the first group of books in the Bible called? Answer—5 Books of Law. Leader—(Place this under the words Old Testament; and continue thus with each of the other groups, each time asking the school to name the next group before placing the name on the board.
