Music for Brass band
‘Rex Richardson is the terrific jazz trumpet player in the 3-movement Master of Suspense… You might never hear a euphonium player as technically dazzling as David Childs.’ – American Record Guide
‘The composers have contemplated playing to the most exciting qualities of these timbres, as well as connecting with the personalities of those for whom the pieces were written…’ – BBC Music Magazine
‘Septura always sounds terrific – tone qualities, blend, and intonation are always wonderful, ensemble always precise.’ – American Record Guide
‘[Childs’] technical skills are superb, as witness most of the pieces on his album – especially an amazingly fast and clean “Flight of the Bumblebee”. For variety, several song-like pieces are included and show Childs’s thick, very dark tenor-tuba tone to full advantage.’ – American Record Guide
