How to use the 38x38 flat press:
NOTE: This 38x38cm flat press is for all flat items, for example, t-shirts, tiles, keyrings, wooden items, sublimer items, flat metal items, bags, puzzles, and more. Most products will be done on this press.
Setting up the press before using.
1. Make sure to put the two black 38x38cm press pads on the base of the 38x38 flat press. The thicker sponge one will go at the bottom and the rubbery one will go on top of that one.
2. You will find at the back of the press there will be 2 extra foot stand brackets. Pull those two out to the sides of t the press. This will help your press to be balanced while using.
3. It’s recommended to set the pressure before turning the press on. Turn the black knob clockwise to increase pressure or counterclockwise to decrease it. Be sure to adjust the pressure according to the specific product instructions.
4. Ensure the power cable is securely plugged in, then press the big red power button on the right to turn the unit on. The controller's lights will go on and be on 10.
5. TEMPERATURE: Start by setting the temperature on the press.
-
Press the OK button once.
- The screen will display " P-1 " and then it will automatically switch to numbers.
- These numbers represent the current temperature setting. Use the up and down arrows to adjust the temperature to the desired level, then press OK again to confirm.
6. TIME: After you have pressed the OK button in the above step, the display will show " P-2 ." It will then automatically switch to a numerical value.
- These numbers represent the current time setting. Use the up and down arrows to adjust the time to the desired seconds, then press OK again to confirm.
7. After pressing OK , you will see the temperature begin to rise on the display screen. The press will beep once it's ready. To stop the beeping, press ENTER twice.
8. To protect the rubber surface of your press from permanent ink transfers and ensure its longevity, we recommend using a Teflon sheet. It can be easily wiped clean if any ink transfers onto it. This is available at JG Electronics.
9. Make sure to read the instructions for each product you will press very carefully (product instructions and more can be found on our online store with each product. Make sure you are registered and logged in to be able to see the instructions)
10. Place the product on the base of the press, swing the press closed, and press the lever/handle down. The timer will automatically start counting down on the press. When the time is up, the press will beep, open the press, and remove the product. Wear protective gloves when working with heat.
How to use the mug press attachment on the press:
WARNING and IMPORTANT to note:
- Do not heat the mug press without the correct size/type of mug inside. - For a bigger quantity of mugs you need to press, make sure you switch the press off to cool down after every 10 mugs. - When the printing is just finished and the element is still hot. Put in a mug to absorb the heat, which can extend the lifespan of the element. - If you press ceramic mugs, you need to put the mug into lukewarm water after pressing to stop sublimation, otherwise, it will bleed the print. DO NOT DO THIS WITH GLASS MUGS, THEY WILL EXPLODE/CRACK WHEN TOUCHING THE WATER.
TWO ELEMENT PLUG-IN POINTS – USE ONLY ONE AT A TIME You cannot use the flat press and another attachment simultaneously. The controller is unable to provide enough power to heat both elements to the correct temperature at the same time.
1. Make sure the press is switched off. Unscrew and then pull out the cable connection of the big flat press.
2. Bring the mug press closer and plug the mug press cable into the controller. Insert it into the small plug area on the left and tighten the connection securely. Close the black cap on the big plug area.
3. Before switching on the mug press to heat it up, make sure to place an old mug that you can reuse in the press. If the mug has a print on it, cover the print with a piece of copy paper to prevent ink from transferring onto the element.
Please note: that a mug must always be placed in the mug press when it is plugged in and heating up, or when it is not in use. To prevent damage, it is strongly recommended that you unplug the mug press immediately after use. Failure to place a mug in the element while it is heated may result in burning out the element, which is not covered under warranty.
4. Set the correct pressure on the mug press, you will turn the silver knob anticlockwise to increase pressure and clockwise to decrease pressure. It should close firmly on the mug, without forcing it. Make sure the mug handle is in the middle so that it doesn ’ t break when you close the press.
5. After you place a mug inside to heat the press and set the pressure, you can switch on the press. This will be on the main power switch again on the controller.
6. Set the time and temperature on the main controller in the same way as demonstrated in the flat press instructions above.
7. While the press is heating up, prepare your mug. Cut out the mirrored sublimation print and apply it to the mug with heat tape.
8. When the temperature is ready, remove the mug you used to heat the element and replace it with the mug with print.
9. When time is up, remove the mug, switch off the press, or replace it with another mug. Ceramic mugs, place in lukewarm water, other mugs, leave to cool down on a table.
10. When doing cone shape mugs, to prevent the mug from sliding out, you need to place the metal stopper on the mug press and screw it onto the element.
11. To replace mug press elements, make sure the press is switched off and cooled down. Unplug the element cable to the main press if plugged in.
12. Unscrew the screws on the element.
13. Take the element at the top of the silver metal pieces, squeeze it slightly together, and slide out.
14. Slide the next element in and tighten the screws again.
How to use the plate attachments on the press:
1. Make sure the press is cold and switched off.
2. Remove the plugs from the controller:
3. Loosen the 2 black plastic knobs on the flat press element.
4. Slide out the flat press element and put it safely aside.
5. Slide in the plate attachment and use a screwdriver to tighten it.
6. Plug the cable in on the controller in the small connection plug.
7. Place a plate on the base of the press and set the pressure on the press the same way you did with the flat press. Let it be firm but not breaking the plate.
8. Set the time and temp the same way you did with the flat press as steps above.
9. Press the plate as per instructions on the online store with each product.
