Gender Pay Gap research – employers/payroll provders 8 February 2017

From April 2017, the Government Equalities Office (GEO) will be requiring organisations employing over 250 people to report gender pay gap data.

GEO is providing employers and payroll professionals with the opportunity to be involved in prototype testing.

The beta user research and testing will run from 20 February to 24 March. GEO is offering a number of sessions at Sanctuary Buildings in London, which are likely to run between 2-3 hours, alongside at least one element of online testing to be done remotely. Sessions will be in a group scenario with facilitators, and will be centred around prototype testing. Combined, research will cover users' journeys from using the guidance to gather data and make calculations to registering to report their data and submitting final figures, and so are appropriate for those individuals who will be directly involved in this process. All participants in sessions will be sent the online testing to complete, but GEO is also keen to send the online testing to a wider pool of participants who will not attend sessions. This would, in particular, be helpful in capturing those users further away from London (in the North, Wales and Scotland). Online testing is likely to focus on guidance. GEO will be focusing on research with private sector employers (including charities) from England, Scotland and Wales initially. Research with this user group will take place from 20 February to around 10 March. GEO hope to involve public sector employers from England and Wales from around 6 to 17 March. Each session will be dedicated to either public or private sector employers.

GEO is currently offering the following session dates to private sector employers , but they will be adding more dates going forward:

22 February: starting at 9.00 a.m. or 2.00 p.m. 23 February: starting at 9.00 a.m. or 3.00 p.m. 1 March: starting at 9.00 a.m. or 2.00 p.m.

2 March: starting at 12.00 p.m. 8 March: starting at 11.30 a.m. 9 March: starting at 12.30 p.m.

If you would be interested in participating in this research please email GEO consultants Kathryn Evans and Priya Srikantharajah for further information.
