The National Living Wage - The Government's National Living Wage was introduced on 1 April 2016 for all working people aged 25 and over.
Rates of pay
The rates from 1 October 2016 are:
£7.20 per hour - 25 yrs old and over £6.95 per hour - 21-24 yrs old £5.55 per hour 18-20 yrs old £4 per hour - 16-17 yrs old £3.40 for apprentices under 19 or 19 or over who are in the first year of apprenticeship.
The rate will then change every April starting April 2017. The rates from 1 April 2017 will be:
£7.50 per hour - 25 yrs old and over £7.05 per hour - 21-24 yrs old £5.60 per hour - 18-20 yrs old £4.05 per hour - 16-17 yrs old £3.50 for apprentices under 19 or 19 or over who are in the first year of apprenticeship.

Low Pay Commission visit programme for 2017 7 February 2017
Evidence from stakeholders, both written and oral, is a vital part of the Low Pay Commission’s (LPC) process for recommending rates of the National Minimum Wage(s) and National Living Wage. The LPC have released the dates of their consultation, oral evidence sessions and visits programme for 2017.
You can find copies of the LPC Autumn 2016 report and summary report on the impact of the National Living Wage so far along with the slides used at the autumn 2016 launch event .
2017 Written and oral evidence timetable The overall timetable will be similar to 2016 and will see the LPC open the written consultation at the very beginning of April with a deadline of Friday 7 July.
Visits Programme LPC will be visiting the following areas in 2017 (visits began with Margate on 2 February): Leeds - 26-27 April Glasgow and East Renfrewshire - 31 May-1 June Belfast - 14-15 June Newport and Gwent - 5-6 July Melton & East Northamptonshire - 9-10 August

The National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Regulations 2017 2 February 2017
The National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Regulations 2017 have been published in draft form and come into force on 1 April 2017.
The Regulations amend the National Minimum Wage Regulations 2015 as follows:
