What’s New in 2017-18 for Employers 6 April 2017

Join HMRC’s Talking Points webinar on Wednesday 19 April to find out what payroll changes are coming in for the 2017-18 tax year.

HMRC’s Talking Points meetings aim to help make things easier for Agents and their clients, by providing up-to-date information, guidance and tips.

Delegates will have the opportunity to ask questions during the meeting (the organiser will explain how on the day). A webcam or microphone is not needed.

The interactive meetings will be run on the ‘CITRIX’ platform and will provide an overview of recent MTD announcements.

Taxable pay tables: Calculator method 7 April 2017

HMRC is no longer producing 2017-18 and any further versions of the calculator method taxable pay tables .

The manual method pay tables are still being produced and have been updated for the 2017-18 tax year for those who manually calculate their payroll if exempt from filing online.

New website includes names of firms that offer payroll giving 10 April 2017

Coinciding with this month’s 30 th anniversary of payroll giving in the UK, a new website allows individuals to see which employers offer payroll giving.

A fundraising company, Payroll Giving in Action , has created a new internet search facility that allows staff to see if their employer offers payroll giving.

The launch of payrollgivingportal.uk coincides with this month’s 30th anniversary of payroll giving in the UK. The site currently includes details for about 3,000 companies.

Jeremy Colwill, director at Payroll Giving in Action, said the target was to include all UK employers with 50 or more staff.

Payroll giving currently generates £130m a year. Colwill said his company’s goal was to see the sum increase to £200m within five years, and he hoped the new search facility would contribute to this. He said the site was not
