Joan Eisenstodt, owner of Eisenstodt and Associates and a legend in the meeting planning world was my inspiration since my first job in the USA at Opryland now Gaylord Hotels. She inspired me to get involved with meetings and help educate people while helping them with their sale. I took a helpful sales approach with both my sellers and customers. It was the secret sauce in closing business and gaining trust. She also was a teacher of ethics for our industry and it inspired me to be more knowledgeable and share my knowledge with others , hence my love for helping and train others succeed, including my ESO Colleagues. I was a senior in college while working as the front desk supervisor at the former Atrium property – Holiday Inn & Suites, Springfield, MO.We had a professor pass away, a professor who knew how to laugh and enjoy work but wasn’t afraid to do the work. He had served in theVietnamWar and had died of Cancer from Agent Orange exposure. After passing, his wife, the Department Head had implemented the Carl D. Riegel Scholarship for those who know what hard work truly is in the Hospitality Industry and I was awarded the first of that scholarship. There were a lot of tears, and I vowed to continue to work as hard as Dr. Riegel and to support our troops (more so than an Army brat already does). It was at that time I got involved with the Support Our Troops organization sending care packages to our troops to give more meaning to the word “Hospitality”. My mentor was my first Director of Sales & Marketing I had at the U.S. Grant Hotel in beautiful San Diego, California. I was fortunate to get a Sales Management Trainee position right out of college and was asked to shadow all the department heads of the hotel as part of my Trainee program. After spending time in each department, I was then able to shadow our veteran DOSM in sales where she took me under her wing. She was from the south and didn’t mince her words. She was very professional, tough, extremely hard-working and taught me so much. I was then promoted to one of the BT sales manager’s and then again as a Group Sales Manager handling state association and state government group. We had 280 rooms and 33,000 sq. feet of meeting space, so it was definitely a challenge as a newbie, but I had the time of my life.

My passion for the hospitality industry and hotel sales started and grew under that roof. However, I am so thankful, excited and honored to be the Enterprise Sales Manager for theWest Region of Atrium Hospitality. Carole Burkhart, who saw something special in me. Carole recruited me from a temp position to a full-time employee and helped me continue to grow. Ruth Buck who encouraged me to move from Operations to Sales. The work ethic and ambition that these 2 women have is inspiring. What is/was Your Biggest Mentor or Inspiration in Your Career?

Recent Work History….

Prior to being a Lead Analyzer I was the Director of Event Sales at Embassy Suites San Marcos. I was with the property for almost 10 years. I began at the property as a temp in the HR Office. I was hired on permanently as Reservations Supervisor. From there I was GRC, Revenue Manager, Senior Event Sales Manager, and finally Director. Although I was sad to see that door close, I am excited to be part of the ESOTeam. I enjoy what I’m doing and blessed to have the opportunity.
